I don't know what has happened to this location, but the last couple of times we ate there, it's been bad. The cashiers are either inattentive or just plan confused by what the customer is ordering. Our order plus others were given incorrect or incomplete orders and that's after waiting far too long for it in the first place. Then part of the order wasn't even warm and was uneatable. Order was wrung up wrong also and I was over charged. Cashier seemed lost and confused and I didn't even bother with getting my money (the difference) back as lord only knows what chaos that would have created.Once one of my favorite places to eat at while in Bedford, I now avoid it like the plague. If I had to eat though, I'd still choose this over the nearby Arby's. That's even worse!

While heading down to a open air theater production at the Appomattox Courthouse we stopped at a Mexican Restaurant in a Mall in Appomattox called El Cazador and it was best of breed around (separate review). And so, when we saw there was another one in Bedford and about only 20 minutes away instead of an hour, we went up there on a Saturday early evening for my birthday.I call this review Tale of Two Cities because the differences in these two buildings, staff, management, and shockingly, the cleanliness, was so shockingly opposite the Appomattox Location, it was difficult not to pick Terrible instead of poor. The menus are not the same to begin with and the waiters seemed to struggle with keeping their shirt tails tucked in somewhat while they did their best to translate english to spanish and back to english to then not know what to say other than, "this is what we got....." Don't get me wrong they were respectful and friendly in their manner, just didn't have the skill to answer better. The food we did order was long in coming, and there were shell bits in shrimp and the chicken was so overcooked it tried to suck the moisture out of my mouth to re hydrate.Sitting almost directly over one of the major air handling units it was impossible not to notice the very BLACK moldy looking vents......The decor was clearly a left over from a couple decades ago, but not kept up.And yes, even the location and poorly maintained parking lot area was very "poor side" of upkeep, so it seemed appropriate to pick POOR, for the experience.Unfortunate. I reckon I'll just have to go see more theater in Appomattox.......

Iâm surprised at the positive prior reviews. While I dined in for lunch I was not impressed with the staff or the food. The salsas offered lacked overall flavor. The taco salad had no flavor either. A waiter was arguing with a customer a few tables away. There are other Mexican restaurants in the area that have better food.

One of regular places. Food great, service is excellent and has a great salsa bar. The cheap margarita nights are always a plus. The menu has a wide variety and they are accommodating if you want to have a menu item fixed differently.

It was a quiet Saturday night for eight of us. We sat inside since rain was coming, but the outside seating looked very inviting. Service was friendly and prompt (note: not very crowded). We skipped appetizers and ordered drinks. We had a few orders of the margarita special- fresh orange juice, pineapple juice, and house mix, garnished with fresh fruit. The best margarita I have ever had, hands down. I ordered a second drink shortly after! Tropical coladas, served in a whole hollowed out fresh pineapple were spectacular; presentation was exceeded by the flavor. Great coconut and pineapple flavor with fresh pineapple chunks in the semi-frozen slush. Fantastic. The bartender and the restaurant take pride in their special drinks; be patient and enjoy their craft. Food included fajitas, tacos al pastor, pierce asado and other typical fare; all good but honestly the drinks were the highlight of the evening.
Personally I LOVE Mi Patron. I've been going there regularly since they opened in Forest and was ecstatic to see them in Bedford when I returned from a 6-month stay in GA. A couple of familiar faces from the Forest store make me feel at home when I walk into this new location. It's a lovely restaurant and the food will likely make El Cazador sit up and take notice of their own shabby location. I lived in TX for many, many years so I love Tex-Mex. This is not it; nothing in our area is. But I've come to love the food at Mi Patron; it's always fresh and hot and I like their salsa. I have many favorites on the menu. Give them a try now that the opening rush has calmed down.

This place is not bad. Food is pretty good but customer service here sucks! We had to sit ourselves despite a sign saying otherwise. If we hadn't we would have been standing around for way too long. Waitress was super nice but seemed unorganized. Took a very long time to get out drinks. She was busy but busy in the wrong way. There was a few staff members just hanging around when they should have been helping. The looked as if they were manager types which makes it worse. Hope they get it together...would be a great place to frequent...

The food was fresh and nice and hot - no hassles with the service and the quantities just right. not very often you get a good Mexican Restaurant that really does it well and with Pride!A must if you are in Alta Vista VA

The food is fresh and tasty, the "combination platters" varied and good picks.I tried both Mexican restaurants in AltaVista over the weekend, and I definitely find El Cazador to be the best, from all standpoints: food, atmosphere, and service.A great option for a casual meal with friends or family.

Impressed visiting colleagues from a more urban area with friendly service, fresh food, and creative options. As always, hearty portions in a clean, modern environment. Recommend checking the "specials board" for options like Korean and buffalo bowls/burritos. Indoor/outdoor seating available. Small parking lot.
