My wife and her friend recommended this place, and it did not disappoint when we celebrated our anniversary dinner. I finished my pollo (chicken) supreme with its rich cheese sauce and walked away stuffed. She could not finish her quesadillas carnitas (pork) and so has a great next-day leftover. Only complaint was the slow service on a Saturday night when they had a big crowd and slow (or few) cooks. TIP: This is a great place to have a lunch or dinner after watching a movie at Portage 16 theaters, which features the only IMAX screen in Northwest Indiana. The theatres are right behind the restaurant.
Had dinner here last evening with some friends and tried their enchiladas. Menu is extensive, however they did not offer tamales which I would have chosen. Restaurant is newly opened in the former police station right on main street. Good place to go for a meal. Their bar area is huge with seating either in the bar area or dining room. Give it a try and see what you think.Mary M.Hobart, IN

Taco Bell is a chain in many locales, but this one is one of the best Taco Bell's. It's very neat and clean, modern and attractive. Employees are friendly and accommodating w/specials, senior citizen discounts and coupons. They always have something on dollar menu or combos. They've a nice selection of sodas, and one of few places that has Mountain Dew and also has another diet soda besides the standard Pepsi (or Coke). They've high tables and low and nobody rushes you when eating. Always someone in there. Servers quick and efficient.4 sauces to choose from. Great cheap filling meal.

This is a nice local restaurant, been around 10 years or so. Quite authentic. They now serve you a complimentary bowl of soup in addition to unlimited chips and salsa - chips are great -crisp and tasty! The service here can be so-so, it's not bad, but not super attentive, basically dutiful. There are coupons offered in many places. Be sure to ask for a punch card (in addition to using your coupon) - you get 1 punch for every visit and after ten visits, you get $10 off a meal! It's cute and small in here, and you never have to wait. They've combo dinner offerings, all the standard Mexican fare, and even a lunch menu (lunch prices). Clean and decorated cute. Give it a try!
El Ranchero has become my go-to place for authentic Mexican food. Everything is tasty, well-seasoned, and made fresh daily. In fact, one evening I tried or order chiles rellenos to be told they had sold out! Hint: go early!Their breakfasts are plentiful and more than reasonably priced; I can actually say the same for any of their lunch and dinner entrees as well.Only reason I don't give an excellent rating is I ordered red snapper one night, and it was so dry I couldn't begin to eat it. Also, although they smell fantastic, the bakery goods are not to my liking. It's not a fancy place; in fact I have a friend who says it's a hole in the wall, but I love it. It's clean and the food rocks my world. Like to take the whole family and start the meal with guacamole, pico de gallo, chips, and salsa, anything we can cram down our throats. Can't recommend highly enough!
I love this place I am vegan and yes these are vegan I don't have cheese in the enchiladas they have rice and beans inside. I also get veggie tacos but all food is great. And drink specials are great. Other Mexican places around the area sucks. Me coming from west side of Chicago to the suburbs I think this is legit.

My husband and I decided to eat dinner at this establishment on August 8, 2017. Looking at the restaurant from the outside and eating before at nearby restaurants, we thought the restaurant was going to be small with a quaint, intimate atmosphere. Well we were wrong. The restaurant is very spacious, and dimly lit (still provides an initiate atmosphere). The menu has a lot to offer with items reasonably priced. The drink menu and drink specials are great too. For dinner we had the following: flautas de pollo dinner and carne asada skirt steak dinner, with raspberry iced tea. The plates are portioned very good (you get a lot of food for the prices). The food is served hot to where the plates are even hot. Our waitress was very friendly and prompt. We will definitely be frequenting this restaurant again to try more things on the menu.

Great authentic food, excellent service, great prices. Great way to spend our Sunday afternoon....didn't feel rushed to order. Was able to talk to the waiter long enough to get a feel for what they're known for.
