Funky restaurant, but really good food. They serve true Mexican food, not American/Mexican like most places. Their oysters on the half-shell are excellent. And the tacos are crispy and perfect. There are several shrimp dishes that are great too. They have a sizable menu, something for everyone.

You know when you walk in, and the restaurant is full of Mexicans, that it's going to be good, traditional food--and it is. We had two lunches over two days--4 different meals, and all were exceptionally good---fresh ingredients, friendly (Mexican) staff, great Mexican beer selection, ample parking, non rushed atmosphere. Makes for a very convenient and comfortable meal. I gave my rating 5 stars for the value and good food. I've had better Mexican, but not recently, and not in the US.
When I'm in the mood for good Mexican food, I head to the taco shops or tacquerias not the big chain-style Mexican restaurants. If one doesn't want a more authentic experience, then the traditional taco shops will probably disappoint. If you're looking for a glitzy atmosphere with a fruity margarita, look elsewhere. From my experiences in the valley, Rancho Grande is one of the best spots to enjoy more authentic Mexican food. I've tried many of the small, hole-in-the-wall taco shops in Hemet and so far, Rancho Grande is my favorite (although I haven't had a bad meal at any of them that I've tried). This afternoon, Rancho Grande was packed - almost always a good sign. Their menu is extensive and full of the specialties I look for in a good Mexican eaterie. To start with I ordered both a birria and a lengua taco. For $1.40, they are probably the cheapest tacos round. Both came with the traditional onions and cilantro, but we're also topped with a dollop of tomatillo salsa. Very generous portions of goat and tongue set atop twin corn tortillas. I splurged and added an a la carte chili rellano for an additional $3.75. It was as good a chili as I have had anywhere. Of course, I washed it all down with a cold gass of horchata. There are many fancier places to take a date to impress her with glitzy decor and fruity drinks, but if your looking for the real McCoy, try a tacqueria like Rancho Grande for good, authentic and inexpensive Mexican food.

Stopped by here at Happy Hour, not by pre-arrangement, just by luck. Thoroughly enjoyed a blended Margarita accompanied by a range of very affordable nibbles. Most enjoyable. Felt welcome and not rushed. Good service. Staff seemed to anticipate requirements.

Since recently moving to Hemet and finding numerous Mexican restaurants I have been moving thru the recommended list to find ones with outstanding food. El Zarape was #3 on Yelps list of Mexican cuisine so today it was my target for lunch this week.Overall I was disappointed and am puzzled that it rates so high on the list.Positives: Chips were very good, hot sauce had a nice body but was way too mild. Finally a restaurant that puts a small spoon in the hot sauce so that I donât have to use chips. Also they have a senior menu which is nice. Restaurant is nicely decorated and pleasant.Negatives: The taco was good but flavorless. The shredded beef tasted like I just shredded it from a piece of roast beef. I did heap the hot sauce on trying to flavor it but it really didnât work well.Chili rellenos are one of my favorite dishes and I had read from another reviewer how good they were. Sadly I donât agree. Mine seemed like the batter was overcooked, almost burnt and when the waitress ask how the food was and I tried to explain it was like I was speaking a language she did not understand. She did offer to exchange it but I was half done with it by then. It wasnât terrible but not good either.Prices: Lunch special prices are very reasonable but for example the two item combination plate at $10.95 is a little more expensive than I have found at most Mexican restaurants.Doubt that I would go back as I have found better and less expensive nearby.

After recently moving to Hemet and finding so many Mexican Restaurants I have been trying different ones every couple of weeks. La Fogata is probably my 10th and I compare each one to my favorite found so far.I like a Taco/Chili Relleno combination which the do have but only on the dinner menu. Pro's:⢠Great Chili Relleno⢠Refried beans are good but I have had better⢠Lots of seating Cons:⢠Lunch special not available on Saturday⢠Chips are horrible.⢠Tacos would be great but the uses same corn tortilla. To thick and had burnt aftertaste.⢠Salad with dinner was a joke. All Lettuce. The amount of red cabbage they had on the salad would fit in a tablespoon and the amount of shredded carrots could fit in a teaspoon. Why bother? ⢠Overpriced⢠They had a pitcher of what looked like ice tea sitting on a cart close to my table. One fly was having a great time crawling around the rim and inside. Why not just cover it?In summary it was a disappointing experience. When I ask the waiter if the chips were burnt as they tasted that way his only response is that the supplier brought them different corn tortillas - but the waiter did not offer to replace them. The chips and taco shell were so thick and 'tough' that it sounded like I was chewing on an ice cube. The contents of the taco were actually good but the shell ruined the flavor. The waiter again came by to his credit and asked how everything was and I told him this was the worst taco I have ever eaten. He mumbled a few words and left. Seems like the manager would at least come by and speak with me. I guess it was "out of site out of mind." I wound up paying about $4 more than my go to Mexican restaurant so it will be highly doubtful that I will ever return. I think from now on I will just stick with the best!

Visited to celebrate my daughterâs completion of course work for her Education Masters. I had the Sea of El Patron: grilled halibut, grilled shrimp, grilled vegetables, and shrimp enchilada with rice. Each was perfectly tasty. My daughter ordered the Pizzadilla with chicken, cheese, beans, guacamole, sour cream, and pico de gallo. She said it was delicious. We shared the chocolate cake ala mode...its richness was a delight. Our server was superb; she got our orders correct & checked with us just the right amount of times. The dining area was clean and our booth seating was very comfortable. Weâll be back!

Absolutely, my favorite taqueria in Hemet. Iâve tried a number of the taco joints along Florida Ave, but I keep coming back to El Ranchito. They offer a nice selection of tacos as well as other traditional Mexican dishes. For me, I keep coming back for the tacos. Today we enjoyed a huge fish taco along with a carnitas taco and a cabezo taco. All were delicious. A very generously filled taco costs around $2.50. Great salsa bar. Their spicy carrots bring on the heat. Lots of taco choices out there, but when I come to town, El Ranchito is always on my list for lunch at least once or twice.

My wife and I recently ate at Emilio's and were very satisfied. Everything we had was very good and the coconut margaritas were super. Will definitely visit again when we are in Hemet!

Always enjoy visiting Los Vaqueros when visiting Hemet. Great atmosphere! Wonderful and attentive service! Excellent food! Hard to imagine anyone being disappointed with lunch or dinner here. Tecate, my favorite Mexican beer, on tap! Life is good!
