We've had breakfast tacos a few times and they are great!! Best I've had in SA they beat Momma Margies too!! Loaded with yummy choices. Family owned new, fresh and very clean. Nice staff and good service!! Family is from Mexico City and staff happily explains the many options. Their corn tortillas are out of this works too!!!

This was my second visit to this location. Service is good. Restaurant is clean. Food is good and cheap. Pretty decent chips and salsa. Ordered puffy tacos ala cart and they were excellent.
Find your nearby Taco Bell at 12360 Leslie Road in Helotes. We're serving all your favorite menu items, from classic burritos and tacos, to new favorites like the $5 Double Stacked Tacos Box, Crunchwrap Supreme, Fiesta Taco Salad, and Chalupa Supreme. So
Coke (the fizzy kind) addicts need not visit here as Pepsi drink products predominate. That probably means my wife will not set foot in here unless she brings her own Coke with her. I will admit that it has been quite sometime since I have seen the inside of a Taco Bell. Having the need to carb load after an afternoon of pitchers on Friday has long since passed. So have the days of burrito supremes, enchiritos and Bell burgers which are nowhere to be found on the menu today. The current menu is full of one kind of crunchy creative offering or another from the dorito flavored tacos to the Crunchwrap Supreme. The Sriracha craze has not been lost on the marketers here either with a prominent "NEW" spot on the menu. Sure, the regular crispy taco is still available (though it somehow did not taste as good as I remembered). The combo I selected with a Crunchwrap Supreme looked interesting, but was essentially a crispy taco that had been encased in a flour tortilla that has been folded in an old style camera iris pattern and toasted. Those of you who always push the salad on your plate away from your enchiladas because it is making the lettuce hot and wilted will not go for this creation (my wife being one of those). Also, you get double the wrapping in the form of a flour tortilla and a corn taco shell with the same amount of meat, cheese and lettuce as you would get with their crispy taco (maybe less).Regardless, I think I would still prefer to order a plain old bean burrito and avoid the gimmicky foods that are now offered. Call me "old school" (whatever that means), but some things just don't need to be enhanced, re-invented, re-done, improved, or messed with all together. Thanks for trying TB, but I think I will just hold on to those fond memories of scarfing down 3 crispy tacos, 2 Bell burgers, and a Burrito Supreme in the wee hours of the morning (and barely remembering it).

We dined here in a Saturday evening, steered here by locals. There were pluses and minuses to the entire dining experience. Service was friendly, but somewhat lacking---water glasses weren't refilled, our server didn't remember who ordered what. But the food was good, and I was impressed by their empanadas. The music was loud and authentic, and somewhat invasive. There is plenty of free parking and a full bar. In a city chock full of Mexican restaurants, one could do better, but one could certainly do much worse.
This is a new location and located on the access road of Loop 1604 heading west before Bandera Rd. We had not been to this location so decided to try it. We had purchased a coupon for it but when we arrived the coupon offer was actually a regular offer so coupon was not even needed. There were no customers when we arrived and only one had come in by the time we left. There were plenty of workers and we were waited on upon entering. The girl spoke very softly and with an accent and was difficult to hear and understand. While we were ordering we noticed behind her the floor with water running on it and an employee was sweeping the water down the drain as more appeared. I assume the equipment was leaking or malfunctioning. Our order was prepared correctly and served timely. The restaurant seating was ample and all was clean but again it is a new location:) We both ordered combo specials. Luckily I had picked through the Tostado Combo because had I not I might have unpleasantly bitten down on a 1 1/2" piece of chicken rib/back bone that was mixed in the salad. I took it to the counter and brought it to the attention of who appeared to be the manager. All he did was look at me, open a bag to put it in and walked off. He did not respond in any way to my pointing this concern out to him and did not address it at all during my visit. I felt an apology or thank you for bringing it to their attention would have been appropriate but did not receive either. I thoroughly checked through the rest of my salad after that. The food temperature was adequate though. We were glad we had not spent very much on the meal and agreed we would not return as they obviously lack customer service. There are loads of eating places on this intersection so no need to return where service is like this.

Food was excellent. We had beef steak tacos and brisket tacos, along with rice and baracho beans. Both tacos were excellent, but I preferred the steak tacos. I like that I can select exactly the toppings I want on my taco, with several choices of salsa and pico de gallo. I'd eat here again. We went late one evening, and every table in the back room needed to be cleared from previous patrons. Other than that, it was a great visit.

There is no longer anything fishy about this restaurant. The former Fish & Grill has been replaced with Tex Mex food purveyor though there are some shrimp dishes on the menu. The layout appears as though nothing changed in terms of floor plan and decoration (or lack of it). The restaurant is fairly new, but it definitely has been discovered. The parking lot was full when we went and there were only a few tables empty though there were a number of booths available in the back. The tables are crammed into close proximity such that bustling waiters are frequently ''scuse me/ pardon me" bumping your chair without an audible 'scuse me/pardon me" as they weave through the diners. Floor cleaning and table busing was slow to non-existant. Before we were seated, we had to ask that the floor be swept below our table as we brushed the crumbs from our own seats.Chips are ok, but the house salsa was fiery. They do have a less incendiary version if you ask for it and the green salsa for your tacos is very good. Papas needed salt, the picadillo had no potatoes and was, salty that is. So if you like papas in your picadillo, just order a side or papas and throw them in . . . perfect. The carne g. was flavorful and tender. The taco trio I had ( bacon, cheese, and bean, chorizo and egg, and bacon and egg) were all good except for the temp. They were all just barely warm. The coffee was fresh brewed and hot.Other dishes I spied as they were served around me looked good and plentiful. Prices were in the ball park for the usual fare, maybe a dollar more for combination plates versus the same food served further towards downtown. Service was brisk and agreeable with only a smile or two lacking. Next visit will require sampling of the bell weather plate . . the one dish that usually makes it or breaks it for me - the enchiladas.

Brand new restaurant opened April 16, 2012
The carne guisada is fork tender and they give you a generous portion. Taste like Abuela used to make...the flour and corn tortillas are super soft and taste homemade. The chips and dip are very good. There are great five dollar daily specials. The service is always very good and friendly staff. The rest room is very clean and so is the restaurant. You will not be disappointed.

A regular place for us for Mexican style breakfast all day on certain days. Pork chop tacos are great but all tacos are good. Generous size. Beans and rice always good. Salsa is really good. We always are there for breakfast, lunch and late lunch but have never been there for dinner but sure it's good also. Small town Helotes cafe atmosphere. Service is friendly and quick.

Three decades and two generations of experience and passion go into every smiling face and mouth-watering bite that make-up El Chaparral. Our family history is etched into everything we do. In 1972, our parents, Charlie and Mary Garcia, followed their dre
We had not been here in some time do to lackluster service in the past. But we decided to take a relative here for breakfast after church. They are open for breakfast on Sat. and Sun. mornings. There was plenty of parking and we were seated immediately. Our waiter was cordial and the service was good. The breakfast menu is a little pricey for what you get and the food was mediocre.Breakfast for three came to just under $36 and one order only two breakfast tacos. The scrambled eggs were dry, the refried beans a bit runny and the omelet filling but not that great. This is a favorite with the locals but we just find other local Mexican restaurants that we prefer to this one even though it is convenient to our location. Thanks for bringing your family in to see us. It's disheartening to hear that we weren't able to impress you this time, especially considering you're one of the local guests that we always cherish having here. We'll take your feedback regarding our food into account and do our best to improve going forward. Hopefully, in the future, you'll give us another chance to impress you.All the best,Carlos, Owner
