Nothing wrong with Guanajuato; just nothing especially good about it. Average food, average service, average ambience. Not a lot of Mexican options nearby, but, from our point of view, find something non-Mexican and wait until you're in the neighborhood of a good Mexican restaurant.

There are entrances on two levels. If you come in from the parking lot, you can use the elevator or the staircase to get to the second floor. The salad bar is a big draw here. There are many, many choices....and your server will bring you a fresh plate for your return trip. I didn't count the salad dressings, but there are at least a dozen -- probably a lot more. Before you return to your table, check out the counter opposite the salad bar. There are mini muffins and a selection of salad add-ons. The fried onions are very good.

Award winning Mexican Restaurant and Tequila Bar and Brewpub. Fresh made Mexican cuisine, fantastic margaritas and a 100 bottle craft tequila list featuring only 100% de Agave tequilas. Beginning in 2016 we began brewing our own beer.
Recommended by family whom we were visiting in Wilmette. He has visited Mexico frequently, as have we, so we are always cautious about trying new Mexican restaurants as most are disappointing. Depot Nuevo does not disappoint! The tacos are delicious and are served in freshly grilled soft corn tortillas The salsas taste fresh. The huge selection of tequilas and mescals appear in very good margarita variations. Best of all is the decor - no giant sombreros, just classy black and white photos of Mexico itself, agave harvest etc.
