Things to do in Gary
I haven't been to a Pepe's in a long time and I definitely won't be going back to this one. Our chips were HORRIBLE. I didn't even know tortilla chips could be anything other than stale but these chips actually tasted awful. They apparently had an issue with the tap on the beer (which came with our lunch) and that was horrible. The rice and beans were literally 4 bites and even my 7 year old was still hungry. My taco had more onions than meat. I didn't even eat it. To be fair, which is why they got a 2 rating instead of 2 is because one meal was taken off the bill. Chips and salsa make the restaurant if you ask me and if I could have left after one bite I would have!
I love this place I am vegan and yes these are vegan I don't have cheese in the enchiladas they have rice and beans inside. I also get veggie tacos but all food is great. And drink specials are great. Other Mexican places around the area sucks. Me coming from west side of Chicago to the suburbs I think this is legit.
Find your nearby Taco Bell at 5729 Melton Road in Gary. We're serving all your favorite menu items, from classic burritos and tacos, to new favorites like the $5 Double Stacked Tacos Box, Crunchwrap Supreme, Fiesta Taco Salad, and Chalupa Supreme. So come
We live down the street, and every time we go to this Taco Bell, our order is wrong, the food is not hot when given to us, and the food is just terrible. They definitely skimp on the ingredients. We've had tacos with just meat inside, with maybe 2 shreds of lettuce and no cheese. There is always a long wait in the drive thru. When you order, and the employee can't understand you, they just replace the item you wanted with whatever they feel like. Often times we've placed our order and when we pull away, we notice we're missing an item. Once we went back, and told them we were missing a taco, and they accused us of eating it quickly and trying to scam them for a free taco. We have called the corporate office, and talked to the store manager and neither seem to care. THIS LOCATION SUCKS! When we want Taco Bell, we drive 15 minutes out of the way to the Hobart/Lake Station location instead.
Where to eat Steakhouse food in Gary: The Best Restaurants and Bars
El Ranchero has become my go-to place for authentic Mexican food. Everything is tasty, well-seasoned, and made fresh daily. In fact, one evening I tried or order chiles rellenos to be told they had sold out! Hint: go early!Their breakfasts are plentiful and more than reasonably priced; I can actually say the same for any of their lunch and dinner entrees as well.Only reason I don't give an excellent rating is I ordered red snapper one night, and it was so dry I couldn't begin to eat it. Also, although they smell fantastic, the bakery goods are not to my liking. It's not a fancy place; in fact I have a friend who says it's a hole in the wall, but I love it. It's clean and the food rocks my world. Like to take the whole family and start the meal with guacamole, pico de gallo, chips, and salsa, anything we can cram down our throats. Can't recommend highly enough!

This is a nice local restaurant, been around 10 years or so. Quite authentic. They now serve you a complimentary bowl of soup in addition to unlimited chips and salsa - chips are great -crisp and tasty! The service here can be so-so, it's not bad, but not super attentive, basically dutiful. There are coupons offered in many places. Be sure to ask for a punch card (in addition to using your coupon) - you get 1 punch for every visit and after ten visits, you get $10 off a meal! It's cute and small in here, and you never have to wait. They've combo dinner offerings, all the standard Mexican fare, and even a lunch menu (lunch prices). Clean and decorated cute. Give it a try!

Elio's has the best food, but it is not a place for sit down dinning. You order your food and take it with you. I had a cheeseburger and they are made fresh, no pre-packaged patties. Generous amount of food and very reasonably priced.

This place is awesome. The food was outstanding, service was amazing. I really am obsessed with the chips and salsa. So good!! The place is done up so beautiful, complete with an outdoor deck. The non tequila selection is a little small, but not bad. I will be back.
