I was in Ft. Madison overnight and had a strong hankering for Mexican food. After inquiring of the locals for a good restaurant, I ventured to "Amigos" only to find it CLOSED (it was Tuesday). I remembered about La Casa Salsa from a previous trip. They were open so there I went and was quite pleased with it. My server, whose initials were 'LB', was very good - - to the point of making some excellent ordering suggestions. Food was fresh (as advertised) and I cleaned it ALL up (I was really hungry, too). They also had full menu (w/prices) To Go menus in prominent display - - didn't have to ask for one.The only 'con' I can think of is the alleged "Mexican rice' While orange in color, it did not have any tomato chunks, onions or jalapeno peppers in it (on the order of Spanish rice - - I checked it out online) - - - which prompted me (mentally, anyway) to ask my great server what the difference was between that and regular white rice, color notwithstanding. Did not ask, so no idea.

My nephew and his mom used to live here in town and love Amigos. So, of course we had to eat there for old time sake. My favorite appetizer are the soft shell fried chips and Salsa. The Entees are even better.

This place used to be called "Tim's". In the last 50 years they have added restrooms and removed the pie cases from the counters but otherwise it is as I remember it. Great food, tenderloins and homemade rhubarb pie. I hope to return. Oh, also good value
