There's Mexican food, then there's Bandera Craft Tacos. This is a new place in downtown Flagstaff. Word of mouth is that it is great. That is absolutely correct. Very fresh and imaginative dishes. The decor is simple but the old building has such charm that nothing much else is needed. We sampled two tacos: Carne Asada and Adobo chicken. Deep flavor on the protein, avocado creama with pickled onions added to the complexity. The special salad of the day was the best salad I've had, possibly ever. Crisp romaine, Adobo chicken, cotijo cheese, fried tortilla strips and a citrus dressing with some heat. Fabulous!

Located in a tiny strip shopping center in Sunnyside, this small (12 tables or so) sit-down Mexican food restaurant serves typical fare - the photos are representative. Nothing special or fancy here. Small basket of chips free, salsa bar with choice of dips, and extensive menu of burritos, tacos, tortas, enchiladas, and combination plates. Service was friendly, if a bit slow.

La Fonda in east Flagstaff is the kind of Mexican food restaurant that you can count on for traditional rice and beans, enchiladas, tacos, tamales and burritos. It's been around since the 1950s and remains popular. The place was full on a rainy Monday night and it's a big restaurant. The shredded beef taco was excellent. The meal started with good ships and a salsa with just the right amount of kick. And La Fonda has a good selection of domestic and Mexican beers on tap and bottles. The combo plate I ordered included a warm soapapilla with honey but it was too full to enjoy it.

I've been in the restaurant business since 1965 and have been a first family chef, manager, corporate manager, owner, author, etc. We eat there several times a month. We've had many items on the menu--they ranged from very good to excellent--mostly excellent. They have unique items that most other Mexican restaurants do not have, so you can try new things. My favorite is the Mole' chicken enchiladas--tender chicken with mole' inside the enchiladas. I could eat this every day. The service is always great--they work hard to please everyone. The place is decorated like a restaurant in Mexico. Since the food is not expensive, we always order an extra entree to try--it makes it feel like a feast. I recommend them to everyone.

Recommended by hotel staff. Probably the best Mexican cuisine I've eaten. I had the Grande Burrito and spouse the Cheese Quesadilla. Both dishes tasted fresh and home made and very tasty. Not like a chain restaurant. Locally owned. House margarita was excellent. Highly recommend.

My brother and I had breakfast here one morning. He ordered a meatloaf breakfast, while I had a sausage & egg combo with pancakes and country potatoes. He said his was OK, but the meatloaf wasn't the best (I would say "don't have meatloaf for breakfast!") My breakfast combo was delicious!Service was prompt. PhlegmMaster,Thank you for your kind words! We are overjoyed to discover the positive impression we made with our breakfast combo . We also appreciate your feedback regarding the meatloaf as this will help us to continue to improve upon the guest experience. Weâre from Texas and realize the Mexican food here in Arizona is not Tex-mex like weâre used to but we have found places we enjoy well enough. This wasnât one of them and really disappointed after reading the other reviews. One person ordered a chimichanga and it was soggy with unusual taste, my husband had beef enchiladas that were greasy, another person had vegetable enchiladas which were okay but the black beans tasted like right out of the can. I had taquitos and they were ok but again a different taste. Three of us received our food after a considerable wait and my husbands arrived 10 minutes later with no apology or explanation for the delay. The chips and salsa were very good. $30 for two meals with only water and disappointing food was a real let down. Hello BryceSAWe are very sorry! â¹You are correct. We investigated your complaint and found that due to a busy night an inexperienced cook was trying to help the other cooks and many mistakes were made on some orders, including yours. This is not how we usually prepare food at Agave. If you are in or near Flagstaff, please contact us because we want to invite you back and buy you dinner. We know that this can not make up for the bad meal you had but at least you can have a better meal this time. [email protected]
