Things to do in Esteli
We had some trouble finding decent food in Esteli but Burrito Express was delicious. Definitely not the healthiest option but everything was fresh and cooked to order. The burger was large and delicious- fries were thick cut. We agreed the burrito was the highlight of the meal. Friendly guys and the owner spoke great English.

Delicious food, friendly service, and great prices! The whole family found food that they loved! We had quesadillas, pupusas, and tacos here. Plus a hot chocolate beverage and jugo de jamaica. I wish I had this restaurant down the street from where I live; I would eat there often!
Could have sworn I was in Vera Cruz when I first laid into the Gringa al Pastor. The pork and cheese is spiced richly--pretty sure achiote is the lead spice--over an upright, open fire rotisserie, shaved finely and in abundant proportion to the fresh, hand-made tortillas. Not authentic Nicaraguan--but this meal was top five in all my time in country when counting non-traditional nica food. Also, it's the only place in town to find food after 10--otherwise you have to trek down the Pan American, a s--t show one must be in the proper mood for. Staff and management always made me feel welcome. This is a great spot in the heart of it all for some magnificent, true blood mexican presentation. Perfect after a few beers, it's the type of joint you'd find anthony bourdain rolling up to with a belly full. Bring a big crew and stay awhile or grab something quickly to go. Shoot the breeze with Emilio--he's fluent in English if that's what you need and he has a strong positive energy. Four bucks gets you a fat quesadia-like plate and a cold beer. An absolute must when in Esteli.
