What a taco! I was up early Sunday and saw on KTLA a segment on this taco joint - when I saw them eating a "cheese tortilla shell" taco I knew I had to try it.I got there before 12, so the line was only 3 deep. Gave me time to look at the big menu - but perhaps still not enough time. There were items there I had not heard off and it's quite extensive. But I decided to get 4 tacos, 2 cheese shell and 2 corn shell. Jackfruit and chorizo on corn and buche and Asada al pastor on the cheese. Also a kiwi/strawberry agua fresca! As I was waiting I saw people that seemed new there and chatted with a few who like me, had seen the TV segment. Got my agua fresca before the tacos from the window - which are hand made tortillas per order, so give them time - and it was delicious! Then the tacos were brought out by a server, and they looked beautiful! This is when I realized that the corn tortillas were hand made as well, with a nice thicker richer masa. The taste of the cheese shell tortilla was rich, succulent, enhancing the depth of the meat flavors. The meats themselves were extremely well prepared and seasoned. I wish I had ordered the jackfruit on cheese as well, to compare. And the corn masa tortillas added a delicious nuttiness to their contents. And the salsa! Spicy chipotle! OMG what a meal! The price of course, is about $1 more than you expect to pay for a taco normally, but well worth it. 4 tacos and a drink $13. I wanted to have had 4 more but as I finished my food realized I had enough. It was greed talking!
Compared to other people's Alfredo's use larger size chunks and less fatty steak. The meat is more juicy and flavorful but at the same time not too salty or overwhelming. One of the very few places I would drive an hour to eat.
The manager hooked us Georgia rednecks up with a whole mess of fish tacos. When paired with the ice cold beer it was an amazing meal!
I'm not just saying this because I'm Mexican and I have to but because this is as real as it gets. I love this place. Its a shack and there is no seating inside. The tables and chairs are outside in a little patio area. If it's windy you will get cold. Now let's get to the food! OMG, you need to try the fried quesadilla with carne asada. They top it off with repollo and sauce and crema mexicana! I love it. It just melts in your mouth. I love that they have tacos de papa. Hard to find Mexican restaurants that have them all the time. I love that they carry agua de pepino. Very refreshing. Their burritos are a decent size and very filling and the prices? Can't beat em! Make me want to order food to go for the next day but I have to refrain from OVERLOAD. All in all one of the best Mexican restaurants in the SGV. Must try.
Located off Peck Rd. they have their own parking off the street. You order at the counter and the cuisine is mostly burritos and such. The food is brought to your table. The burritos look smaller than your typical place, but the prices match the size of the burritos. Upon taking a bite my birria burrito it tasted like what I would get at home. The flour tortilla was not one of those industrial tortillas used by most restaurants. With my eyes closed I could swear it was my mother's. The birra was hot and tasty. The service is friendly and the place is clean. Soda is canned or glass bottles of Mexican soda made with cane sugar. I love this place!
I arrived during the lunch rush but this place has ample room for plenty of customers. I asked if they offer lunch specials and they stated they offer the all you can eat buffet, I didn't want to gorge myself so I passed on the buffet. Instead I ordered the Mom's burrito house special, I chose the chili verde. The food was average, nothing special, but the service was first rate.

My husband and I loved every bite of the fabulously flavored dinners that we enjoyed at this friendly restaurant. It was by far the most authentic Mexican cuisine that we have ever experienced outside of Mexico. I ordered birria La Barca, a delectably prepared goat in mole. It was so good that I was so busy eating that I rarely paused to converse. As my husband would attest, that is most unusual for an engaged talker like me! My husband equally applauded his molcajete. It was a pot of well-seasoned chicken breast and carne asada with chorizo, salsa and yummy cheese. My husband likes it spicy and that's exactly what he got. Since our food was spicier than we expected, we should have had ordered beer to accompany our meals. It perhaps depends upon the day and time that folks arrive, but my husband and I arrived at about 4:30 pm on a Wednesday and we were seated immediately. Service was fast. What we enjoyed most about our dining experience is that it was really unique and delivered special flavors. Prices were reasonable for what we received. Street parking is available but we parked in the large, free parking lot behind the restaurant. Although we live about 40 minutes from this restaurant, we are already planning our return visit.

If you're tired of Danny's try this for a sunny morning breakfast. When it's warm, sit out on the patio and watch the planes take off or land. (It's a super distraction for the little ones.) This is HOME food. Nothing fancy, just morning stuff just like grandma used to make.Lunches are okay. Do check out the specials because there are some winners.
