We have eaten here many times and I am surprised I had not reviewed it before. It is quite inexpensive, the food is very good, and you always see local Mexicans dining there. This alone says something to me. Very good daily specials, 3.99 Margueritas on Monday and Tuesday and generally low prices. What's not to like? When iin Delavan, this is the Mexican restaurant to go to IMO.

On our first and LAST visit here we noticed the dining room being about 20° cooler than one should be. The place was about 60% full and we waited patiently to be served. After 25 minutes we finally ordered. Our server mistakenly gave us a regular soda when a diet was ordered and she "snarled" back as if it was our fault. Our food was overall nothing to write home about. We expected much better from a place that has been here for so long. Our server never checked back on us for anything until she dropped off our bill. We had to ask another server to refill our drinks and bring us just a little more sour cream. My big problem and the reason we shall never return is that they charged us individually for the rice & beans that should have been included with the dinners we ordered. They also charged $1.79 for a TINY cup of additional sour cream which was not even real sour cream to begin with. Upon noticing these very over inflated charges we tried to get our servers attention and she avoided us so much so after 10 minutes we just went up to the register to work things out. The lady at the register ran off after our server who finally came to the register only to "bicker" with the register lady making us feel really uncomfortable. The two of these employees stood by the charges given us and we demanded to speak with a manager. The "Owner" arrived and the three "bickered" back and forth and they still insisted we pay what they claimed we owed. Nothing doing. I was just about ready to walk out without paying anything when the "Owner" (?) then took a flat $7 off our overinflated bill. What a lousy experience in our otherwise fantastic day. Avoid these miserable people at all cost.

Delavan Food Guide: 10 Must-Eat Restaurants & Street Food Stalls in Delavan
I will be upfront about La Parrilla. On first glance, you might just drive by and not think twice about stopping. That's because the restaurant is housed in an old A&W restaurant with tables (not a drive-in), and structurally little has changed inside or outside. But inside, you will find some of the best Mexican home cooking.Again, to be upfront since the inside lacks on ambiance, I have only done takeout, but I have done it twice and both times were very good. The homemade mole and chili de arbol (very spicy) sauces are some of the best I have had on chicken or steak. The guacamole is chunky and freshly made, and the tamales are made from scratch. For dessert, the home-made sopapillas filled with strawberry and banana are to die for. The extensive menu offers favorites like burritos and enchiladas, but the house specialties are what really gives this restaurant its home-made flavor. If you choose to eat at La Parrilla, you will find a casual setting that offers a good selection of domestic as well as Mexican beers and soft drinks. All of this in a really friendly atmosphere.
