We stopped in for lunch on our cross country road trip. The staff was friendly and the food came quickly. My favorite was the pork tamale.

We were looking for something light to eat for dinner on a Saturday night,, and our first thought was Chinese food. But, when we saw La Potosina, we thought tacos or something along those lines. La Potosina is probably one of the more authentic Mexican restaurants that I have been in, and there are more than a few in the Chicago area. The table tops and the chair backs had great art on them. We were seated immediately and went through the menu. We ordered two tacos. We also ordered an ground beef enchilada and a chille relleno, and our last was a carne asada taco, Erica, our server, was efficient and attentive, though it was not that busy. The food tasted great and it turned out to be just the right amount. Erica also brought chips and salsa to the table.

Not much to look at from the outside, and the interior is run-of-the-mill Mexican dining surroundings with the exception of the carved wooden booths. Our service on a Saturday early evening was spotty, but the complimentary fresh chips & slightly smoky salsa gave my wife & me hope of a good meal to follow. Unfortunately, neither her taco salad nor my #1 Combination (a ground beef taco & two ground beef enchiladas) were up the the pre-meal standards. Ingredients were low quality, the ground beef was salty with an odd texture, and the taco salad was basically ruined by a liberal dousing with liquid cheese. The rice on my combo plate was the only part of either entree that we enjoyed. We agreed that eating at one of many fast food restaurants around Danville would've been far more satisfying than the meal we mostly left behind @ La Potosina on South Gilbert.

My granddaughter wanted Mexican food today and I have not lived in Danville for 30 years but we saw a sign for Buen Apetito along the main street in North Danville - Vermilion Street and decided to try it. It is not very visible from the road but worth looking for! My first impression was how clean and neat it was with a large stone fireplace in the middle. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. I was expecting the regular Mexican meal you get anywhere when I ordered Chiles Rellenos. I was very suprised by the appearance and taste of the whole meal. It just looked fresh and tasted wonderful. My granddaughter had enchiladas and was very impressed. I don't know if they are usually busy, but they should be. A very good meal in a pleasant quiet atmosphere. Will go there again.
