This establishment is an attempt to recreate what was an outstanding Mexican restaurant that existed in 1960-70 at approximately the same location. This new Mexican Village fails to meet expectations. Ambience is like a big open sports bar. I found menu to be confusing and food is average, at best. Those looking for good Mexican food will probably be disappointed.
Several years after closing, Mexican Village has returned to its original [almost] site on Orange Ave in Coronado. During the '60s & 70's This was THE Mexican resturant on the Island - Known throughout the Pacific Theater of operations as "Mex-PAC', it was always packed, served excellent Mexican food & Beverages. The 2019 version occupies approx 25 % of the original site, and features excellent Mexican cuisine & beverages. We came in for an early dinner on a Monday night, not the best time to rate any facility, to see how it compared with the Original . Different decor, but very South of the border, with a large variety of Margaritas available & a 6 page menu, featuring typical Mexican fareOur server, Murphy, upon learning that we we "original" customers was curious as to what we thought of the new place & was astonished when I told her how big the place used to be.Our server was outstanding, however the kitchen was not quite ready - it took a while to get our meals to the table. Food was good, however the plates should have been warmed ["Hot"] before placing the food upon them. As I was going to be driving over 100 miles, after dinner, I did not partake in one of their Margarita's, however friends have told me that they were as good as the "old days" when I first visited in the 60's. My wife & I went there on dates in the 70's, and later in the 80's w/ our kids after we were married -

Coolest atmosphere ever!! Food was outstanding!! Guac and chips appetizer, and shrimp tacos (street tacos) were divine! Don't miss the "Bark at the Moon" serrano-infused margarita. Killer Happy Hour. Great music. Staff is obviously happy; very friendly and hospitable. We absolutely adored this place and would return again and again.
The last time I went through Taco Bell's drive thru, I ordered a large Diet Coke, the cup I received was covered in gunk. It looked as if it had been in the trash can and had some mild sauce sprayed and then dried onto it. The only consolation is that when I contacted Taco Bell they sent me a voucher for 1 free item of my choice. Needless to say I gave it away. Will not be returning. I will now grab grub on the Go from Burger King.

Overall this is a great restaurant with an incredible location. Next to the Ferry landing in Coronado, El Roy has an incredible view back toward San Diego from Coronado Island. We could not have asked for better Service, our waitress was wonderful and attentive. The menu has some limitations, but the food we had was very good. Would just like more choices.

Mexican restaurant and coffee shop in Coronado. Our from scratch salsas and preparations are as authentic as it can get. See you soon
This place has the perfect quiet, laid-back atmosphere, with the food all made from scratch. Everything tasted zingily fresh and flavorful, and created with care. Our server (Andrew, I believe) made great drinks, provided attentive service and wonderful conversation - he really looked after us. I had one of the best birrias I have ever tasted. It made me want to come back and try everything else on the menu. I think I will. Yum! It was all affordable too, especially considering the location.

you can expect decent food and nice drinks here. They serve up basic Mexican fare and the service is good. The place gets pretty busy especially with noisy families.

This is a small diner, that has been in business since 1929, the Esquer family has owned it since 1996, we have 20 seats and the counter surrounds a flat-top grill and vintage hood that was salvaged off a ship more than 100 years old. You watch your found
TripAdvisor ratings told me that this was the place to visit when in Coronado to get some local flavor, and we were so glad we did! Very small dining room - the three of us had to sit at the bar to be able to sit together. The bar was fun though as you could watch them make your meal, and it was literally served right from the grill! We had omelettes and other breakfast items for lunch, and it really hit the spot! Everyone was really friendly, and you could tell it was a local favorite. I'm so glad we looked for it - it really made our day!

Miguelâs food is usually pretty good and so is the service. They have chosen to expand their seating capacity by opening other nearby sites close to the main restaurant. This is where the evening began to deteriorate. We were forced to sit at a table outside along the street, a shorty walk from the main dining room. My personal seat was too near to a planter along the sidewalk and I kept falling backward into the edge of the planter. There was no option to fix this problem as the other tables were full. Dinner took longer to reach us and there were a few orders at the table incorrectly delivered. In short, the sidewalk cafe approach created enough problems that the meal was unsatisfactory. If we canât be seated in the main dining area, we will just go elsewhere.
