Things to do in Ceres
I was in the area for work and stopped at this restaurant squirreled away in a strip mall. I was craving some good Mexican food and I was not disappointed. I was quickly seated and an array of salsas was brought out with my chips. I have rarely seen this and every one was great. My drink and food order was quickly taken, although it did take a little bit for the food to arrive. My waitress kept a close eye on my drink and checked on me often, including asking how the food was shortly after delivering it. Frankly for a taqueria, it was much better service than I expected and I was pleasantly surprised. The carne asada was very good and it was honestly one of the best mexican meals I'd had in a while. There's plenty of parking and access is easy to this large shopping center. It is located on the back side of Ceres, so you may have to go out of your way to go here, but it's worth the detour.I would definitely go there again, given the chance.
Not fancy but the food is authentic and the service friendly. The locals were there for a big bowl of birrieria but I had carnitas slopes ($10) and my wife and friend, chicken quesadias ($8). Most places I know don't even offer slopes let alone great ones....don't you be turned off.by appearances....it is far from fancy but it is very clean.

There is one new item on the menu which looks good but I have not had it yet. The two young men who worked the drive-thru were efficient and friendly. Tasty.
The tacos are so good, on handmade tortillas, with fresh ingredients. Everything that our group ate was top quality and delicious. If you aren't sure where to go eat, stop looking and go here, this place has excellent Mexican food.
I actually asked my brother to me be at another Mexican Restaurant in Ceres; the half-way point between our respective homes in different parts of California...when I was 5 miles from our pre-arranged meet-up, I called him to verify my arrival...he shared he and his gal pal were already seated waiting for me...So I show up at the restaurant, NO BROTHER!?? Where did he go? Stepping out, I place a phone call back to him inquiring his whereabouts, only to find out he went to the WRONG restaurant...So back in the car, I eventually find this "ALlfonso's Mexican Grill near Highway 99 on a torn up main street...it would appear they are doing construction and I ended up parking a couple of blocks away in a Wells Fargo parking lot...My brother had already ordered a quesadilla appetizer which was just "okay". The chips were tasteless and the salsa was very mild and plain. My Chile Rellano and Chicken enchilada was inspiring and mediocre at best as was my brother's and his gal pal's order. The only highlight was my margarita! The service as excellent; sad the food was not....
Food good and fresh made. My favorites are their nachos and chicken soft taco. For summer enjoy their iced coffee.
We came back here for the birria de chevoHad mundo instead and it was so good!! they asked if you want with or without hominy.....when it came to our table Ohhhh man so good.i love the fact they make there own tortillas by hand. The portion was perfect...again i love the birria And now i also like the mundo..the place is clean and bathrooms are very well attended to..(CLEAN!!).. its a great restaurant...
What to do and see in Ceres, United States: The Best Places and Tips
This restaurant appeared to be rather new when I stopped in for lunch. The decor is well done and the food was good, with some options that you may not see at the normal mexican restaurant. There was hardly anyone there, but service was a little slow, even for a late lunch. The price was good for lunch and the food seemed well-prepared. I would probably come here again.

Sought this restaurant out due other reviews. The restaurant staff was very attentive and friendly, the food was tasty and plentiful with a good variety of choices on the menu for everyone. Prices were moderately high for 2 combo plates with 2 drinks an a guacamole appetizer priced daily by avacado prices. Atmosphere was pleasant with flat screen tv(s) for sports (on this Sunday afternoon). Would return if we were to ever be in Ceres, CA again.
