When traveling always make a stop at Taco Bell guess you could call it my familiar food place. The kids working where friendly, they actually where wiping down legs on tables, the stainless was clean and the service great.

If you dare to adventure away from the normal touristy burritos and chimichangas, which they also have, and try the goat birria, the barbacoa or the pozole, all specialties of the mexican Altiplano, you will not be disappointed. Flavors are delicate and intricate and I can also vouch for their authenticity. The downside? Tortillas are not the best, but they are very doable. (I bring my own)....
I've been here a few times when I've been having drinks at the local pub. I had the super chicken burrito. Unfortunately, it wasn't memorable. I should preface this by saying I asked for the burrito with no rice so they probably doubled the beans but I still could barely find any chicken in the whole thing. It came out like a big bland, bean burrito. I often do this when I go to Mexican restaurants to cut down on carbs so I know they can still be tasty. Not here though. My husband had the chicken burrito the way it's regularly made and he said it was just alright too. I want to love it because the people that work there are so nice and friendly but can't say that I would go back unless I had to.

Taco Bell, and especially the one in Castro Valley is our favorite place to eat when we are in the US.For us, every visit to Taco Bell is a pleasant experience, with very good quality mexican fast food and super good prices. The interior of this specific Taco Bell is very family-friendly, clean and welcoming. We went there late night and the restaurant was still working. We ordered two Cheezy meal boxes that included two cheesy nachos, two burritos, two tacos and two drinks. For all we paid 13$. Again, amazing quality and very low price. One thing is for sure, whenever we find ourselves in the US, this will be one of the first places to visit.
Where to eat Italian food in Castro Valley: The Best Restaurants and Bars
Had lunch at this small restaurant. The food was good. Small place, with usual bay area shortcoming....lack of parking. This place has only two spots for cars, in front and on the side of the store. You may find a spot or two on the streets, but this is truly a locals place. They do a lot of walk up business. I had a steak burrito that was very good. They only had 3 types of salsas, green tomatillo (mild) and two red salsas, one medium hot and the other very hot. Fast service from the counter. Nice folks that thank for coming and when you leave. Go and enjoy the food even if you have to take it to go.

Appears to be a family owned restaurant, very friendly and careful attention to you, assisting with ordering and recommending upon request. Small parking lot, not too large but roomy for groups. The food was plentiful. There is no waay to eat the complete meal in one sitting. I know I had to take the rest of my Taco Salad home. He ordered the sizzling steak, it came with tortillas, beans and rice, that was a lot to consume. The food was good! We left there a little stuffed! Oh and the chips and salsa were tasty.!

I ate one of the most amazing wet burritos I have ever consumed. It's a wonderful restaurant with friendly staff and great food. I highly recommend giving it a try.
Top 3 Diner food in Castro Valley, California, United States

We had an early dinner here on a Saturday evening, and were in time for happy hour (even on a Saturday night!). The margaritas were cheap and good. The dining room is quite attractive, with the usual colorful Mexican decor, but also with a ceiling full of very pretty pierced tin star-shaped lights; the effect is quite lovely. Iâm no expert on authentic Mexican food, but Iâve been eating at California Mexican restaurants for many years, and this is a good one. The tortilla chips were thin and hot, and the salsa was just spicy enough. My husband really liked his beef fajitas, and the nachos I ordered as an entree were delicious. Our server was attentive, and the food came out remarkably fast. Very enjoyable.

Taqueria Portales is the best Mexican restaurant in Castro Valley. The food is always really good. If it were a bit closer and had easier parking, I'd go more often. I go to another Mexican restaurant down the street from me that has a parking lot and save Portales for when I had a bit more time. But as I'm writing this, I realize I should just go way more often. Tonight, it's a date!
