We have past this Casino on Route 395 many times on our drive to/from lake Tahoe, stopping once to take advantage of their low gas prices, but have never been inside before last week's trip. Got the gas, and decided to try lunch in the casino - which turned out to be an okay choice - well, first if you are in a hurry travelling and can't spend minimum 1/2 hour, this is not a good choice - well maybe coffee and pie [the have great pie! a special!] - nice staff, courteous but service is slow. Huge portions on all salads - I have an amazing Cobb, we also has Asian chicken...Cafe-style menu, They have a full bar too...the margarita was so 'chemical-tasting' I switched to a tequila sunrise. Overall, it was a relaxing 35-minute stop-over, pretty good food, and fairly cheap - $10 for the salad. $5 for a glass of Chard, $5 for sunrise - hard to beat and cheap gas prices usually...
We just got this restaurant chain last month and I haven't been disappointed yet. The building is remodeled and clean and they food has been great. I love the chicken tortilla soup and the salsa bar (the creamy avocado is the best!). One bad thing is that the last three times we've been there they've been out of chicken tenders. The cashiers are mostly high schoolers with the older people doing the cooking. We haven't received bad service yet, everyone's been very helpful and enthusiastic. Hopefully they don't go downhill once the newness has worn off.

Not from the area, tho used to frequent this place when it was tucked into the Rite Aid Shopping center as you headed north on 395. Family owned and run. Just back for a meal our way north this past weekend. Son seated us and served us. Great selection and food - as is usual. Best Chiliquilies on the planet. Perfect eggs, cheese, tortillas, fresh red tomatoes - Guac was out this world delish. Iced tea was good - fresh brewed. Salsa was hot. Always stop at this place - even easier to find in their newer location on 395 - putting in an outdoor patio under the huge trees. Definte stop each and every time.

I have eaten here many times over many years. In comparison to the other local Bishop Mexican Restaurants, not only does La Casita offer a full bar (real Tequila Margaritas) I have found their food to be very authentic, great tasting, and PLENTIFULLY Generous in Serving portions. I had the pleasure of learning from the Dinner Service Bar Tender many years ago the story of the owner and her obsession with use of only quality ingredients, authenticity and adherence to the internal recipes.Consistent food, Great Prices all things considered and a REAL unpretentious old west/old town look and feel. Some might even call it a 'dive' but don't let it fool or discourage you. I even recommend La Casita to friends when I learn they are planning to travel on 395.Awkward and Odd but very important tid-bit; Unlike other Mexican Restaurants across the state, I have not once in over 20 years gotten sick from the food here. Let's be real - it happens at some of the best or highest rated and your personal favorite local Mexican Restaurants - it has not happened to me here, and I love their Chile Rellenos which are a 'usual suspect' in Mexican Restaurants :-)

The Mexican food selection is very good, though not as thorough as other restaurants in town. The food is very tasty and offer you mild to spicy selections. The enchilada, tostada, chimichanga, and chili telenovela are excellent selections. You can get the other usual tacos and more with rice and beans or simply al a carte. Drink selection include the restaurants own version of the margarita, beer, wine, and soft drinks.

Stopped on a Saturday night. Place was moderately busy, served in timely manner. Staff was very friendly. Food was very good. I ordered two enchiladas w/ green sauce (mild) with rice and beans. Had a genuine Mexican coke with the meal. They have a full bar, but I went with the coke.Located just off the main street in mid-town, so you might have to look for it.

Specialties: Not just Mexican Food. We were awarded Yelp's "Local's favorite" since 2004. Our locals have requested that we provide our breakfast all day and we are happy to provide. You'll find a variety of large portioned great choices here, from fresh
Good quality, reasonably priced, and very authentic Mexican food. Atmosphere is down-to-earth, basic. Tacos are street-type, with a selection of traditional meats. A good variety of house-made salsas are available, and they are happy to bring them all to you so you can try them. Delicious and highly recommended.
