We only had a late dessert here and it was great! Ordered at 22hrs, while the open kitchen was being cleaned, had it 10 minutes later. Costs: approx. â¬5 per dish. Great taste, friendly staff, mediterranean decorations and good menu of what we saw. Would really like to eat here again!

I stopped in on an unseasonably cool evening. The interior was full of happy guests and so I zipped up my jacket and sat in a very comfortable chair at a table on the large patio and watched the river traffic. It was delightful. I enjoyed a heaping plate of pasta with fresh seasonal mushrooms, just perfect. Service was prompt and friendly. I will definitely return.

I tried the beef carpaccio and the quatro stationing pizza. The food was quite good. Pizza crust could be thinner. However the waiting was way too long. I waited more than 30minutes to get my appetizer and ever longer for my drink. They need to improve that part.

Our family enjoyed a quiet weekend lunch at Da Franco restaurant during a day trip to Remagen. The staff were welcoming and spoke Italian, German and English. The menu had a wide selection of Italian dishes including a number of pasta and pizza choices. The drink menu includes alcohol and non-alcohol. Decor was in keeping with the usual Italian themed restaurant. The view, however, was spectacular. The restaurant has an outdoor terrace just a short distance from the Rhine.

After reading the reviews I expected something really sensational, but actually I was fairly disappointed. The food was really just ok. Wine was good and the staff were friendly. But first back to the food... everything was far too salty!!!! The moussaka had the most salt! The dish itself was good. It had the right mix of I gradients, had the right consistency... but was so salty that one couldn't enjoy it. Second was the Greek salad... also way, way too salty! Then last were the spanakokeftethes and the grilled octopus... not as bad as the moussaka and the salad, but still way too salty. And speaking of the grilled octopus... it was rather mushy. The head waiter explained to us that it is supposed to be that way, and perhaps he is right, but my experience in other (very good) Greek restaurants is that it should be al dente. I mean it should not be rubbery, but nice to bite into :-) ok, so in summary, nice people, tasty wine... but the food was not quite right. Drive to Essen and try Eleon in Rüttenscheider Str.... there you can eat really fantastic meze.

Restaurant with authetic Libanese cuisine.Warm welcome, excellent food, small and cosy place with a beautiful garden in the shade and an old historic vaulted cellar. We were recommended the "Mäsa-Platte" for two persons and were told by the owner - a talkative but unobtrusive person - that this covers a lot of special Libanese dishes and as it would be a fairly large amount we should think over whether to order a main dish on top. And he was right, it offered enough for two persons. We recommend the garlic dip and the tabbouleh! By far the best we've ever eaten, even in the Middle East.Good value for money, nice place to eat and drink (well assorted wine list) and very nice place to meet in summer, sitting in the garden and taking a walk on the banks of the Rhine with a view.

Let me say upfront that this restaurant is quoted 2 diamonds out of 5 in the Varta restaurant guide. So we went with high expectations. Should at least have been Michelin BIB quality?Outside a nice mansion-like house, nice lighting, terrace etc.Cosy interior, cuddily heated ..... warm welcome. Breathes the air of a gourmet temple.Other than "à la carte", the card showed one, three course menu at 28â¬. Ok, not expensive, but since the map showed very traditional plates too, apparantly not different from the ones on the menu, I thought: "hmm, let's see what they can do for this amount". And so, we took it. But it appeared they could not do much.First, came 2 kinds of bread and 3 different spreads on the side, nice. Then, for first course, a fresh salad accompagnied amongst other things, by raw quartered tomatoes, lukewarm asparagus and strawberrys. It felt like back in the 80ties. Nouvelle cuisine, you still know?Main, a so called mediterranean braised lam leg, with green beans, braised tomatoe, an indifferent sauce, probably thickened with starch and some gratiné potatoes. Then a vanilla panacotta with strawberry and rubarb sauce.Well, honestly, these 3 courses were not more than just correct home cooking. I can do better at my home and I'm not a chef.Coffee and thea, were accompagnied by 1 minuscule biscuit.Ok, I admit, what can you expect for 28â¬?Still, I would gladly have spent some more for a more elaborate meal. Is Varta is to blame? Or is the crisis so big in Germany .....? Or was the chef out of inspiration? And also IMHO, houses like this one should not downsize on the quality and offer meals at a lower price in the hope to attract more customers. First they will scare away the real gourmets. And secondly, the other eaters will not come either, since they will not go to a gourmet institute anyway. Proof: other than us, there was nobody in the restaurant.Almost forgot: nice winelist, mostly German, but also a very well thought choice of French and Italian ones. It starts at 24â¬, but can also be taken by the glass.
