Find out what Mediterranean restaurants to try in San Sebastian - Donostia. While many visitors come for the beaches, arts celebrations and fiestas, San Sebastian-Donostia is serious about its food and drink. The Old Quarter’s narrow, winding streets are full of bars and restaurants, and in the modern city, sidewalk cafes are all around. The city specializes in seafood. Just make sure you know not to expect dinner at 6 or 7 p.m.—that’s much too early in Spain. Instead, tide yourself over with tapas, and enjoy eating and drinking late into the night.

Great meal with the team. Excellent service!Maybe a little high prices but the quality of the food worth it.Thank you for your visit and these kind words you wrote. We may not be the cheapest restaurant in town, but as you wrote, the quality (and service) are worth it... Will try to improve quality and keep same prices for your next after match dinner around here. Promised. Hope to see you again. THANKS

We made a reservation for dinner. The waitress was so helpful and translated the menu for us! She gave us recommendations and each dish was amazing. Started with roasted peppers then had risotto with cod, ravioli with oxtail and ended with tuna. Wines were very good and all was reasonably priced. Would go again!

We hosted our wedding reception dinner at Misura and enjoyed the chef's recommended tasting menu for our group. Everything was beautifully presented, and meticulously executed. The restaurant prides itself on using local and organic products native to the region, thereby ensuring only the freshest items of the season are used. The dishes are flavourful, thoughtful, and easily one of the best meals we've ever had. Make sure to try the 62-degree egg and cod and the tarte tatin. What a delight! Everyone was raving about the culinary experience they had that night- not to mention, the attentiveness of the staff, and warmth of the environment. Everything was perfect! We will definitely come back to Misura and Arima again for our vow renewals!!! :) Thank you again for everything!

Of the 12-13? (we lost count) pintxos bars we visited during our entire trip to Basque country this ranked as one of my top 3. The boquerones (vinegar-cured white anchovies) were AMAZING, firm but not mushy on delicious bread and paired with the best combinations of toppings (we tried the jardiniera which was diced fresh peppers, crema centollo a creamy crab sauce, olive paste, trout roe, and foie ones and they were all tastier than the last). It was never that crowded when we went and the service was friendlier than at most of the bars. It was actually one of only 2 places we went to twice over the course of our trip. If you love anchovies, this is a MUST TRY. Closed on Sundays.

My wife and I had a terrific lunch here. Highlights included the foie gras with carmelized onions on toasted baguette slice, crab burger with tomato and a delicious sauce and a truly outstanding cheese cake. Small restaurant, friendly atmosphere and attentive service. Fun!

Arzak is a 3 Michelin star restaurant in San Sebastian. My wife and I love the Michelin star system and eat at many of these restaurants. Arzak is certainly worth its 3 star rating and should perhaps be given four stars. The highlights are:1. The service in impeccable, the family greets every table. This family could rest on their laurels, but they do not. This attention to detail ensures the quality is maintained.2. The food is excellent, in both taste and presentation. Plus they are amenable to customers requests. I have no time for chefs who tell me how meat must be served.3. We had two gluten intolerant people at our table, and they still found the food to be excellent. They were also blown away by the quality. We cannot wait to go back.

I rely on tripadvisor for recommendations.Mendaur Berria was listed as number one in San Sebastian and lived up to its ranking. We did something a San Sebastian resident would never do. We ate all our pinxos at one place. We couldn't see the point in going anywhere else. Nothing could be as good as this!Dishes can be ordered as pinxos size or racion which is bigger and probably meant for a few people. We had a racion size dish of calamari and then pinxos size of 8 other dishes followed by the lemon pie for dessert. We waddled out after paying EUR46.50!Originally we had booked a Michelin starred restaurant but cancelled it. We have been to a number of Michelin star restaurants around the world and have always walked out thinking:'OK but not worth the money'.Mendaur Berria food is beautifully presented and the server described each dish when they brought it to the table.A must visit, worth every cent!Thank you very much for your lovely words, for the visit and the review. We love that you enjoyed your experience in our house. Your opinion is very important to us, because is the way forward. We hope to see you again soon. Best regards.

Bar restaurant in the Center of San Sebastian. Haute cuisine of rations and pintxos, dynamic selection of wines and beers. We serve from the first coffee in the morning until the first drink in the evening. Dish of the day every noon of working day
We had a wonderful dinner at Xiri on a Saturday evening. The restaurant / bar was busy but we were able to get a table for two without a reservation. The waiter recommended an excellent vermouth cocktail (only â¬3.50) and my husband had a really nice local beer. We took further recommendations for specials of the day and ordered a delicious tomato salad with olive oil and salt, 2 x Iberian pork (you could do just one and share as a taster) and 2 x hake. Each dish was so delicious! Itâs hard to say, but maybe the hake was our favourite? We also had two desserts and another glass of wine each. All up our bill was â¬50 and we thought this was very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food we got!! In fact, we were surprised at how cheap it was! Our friendly waiter also brought out two small glasses of a local liqueur to end the night. All up, we would definitely recommend this restaurant!! 5/5!

With so many places to eat we took a chance to visit this restaurant and we were not disappointed. We had studied the set menu including wine and water earlier in the day and turned up without making a booking. We soon realized that we were lucky to get a table as the restaurant filled up very quickly. The décor and ambience of the restaurant was spot on. The standard of food was excellent with plenty of choice and the service was friendly, efficient but unrushed even though the restaurant was full, with people being turned away. All in all, we enjoyed a lovely evening at this restaurant and it was clear to see that the waiting staff really enjoyed their jobs and worked hard to make the overall experience enjoyable and relaxing.
