We visited this restaurant three times during our holiday in Comares and every visit was superb. The waiters were friendly and helpful, the food was absolutely delicious and the rum and cokes fantastic not to mention huge! The vine covered courtyard is magical at night and the views are of course amazing. We had the Argentinian steaks which were superb and beautifully seasoned, the monkfish with scallops and prawns divine and the gambas al pil pil just delicious. We would recommend this restaurant unreservedly.Dear customer,Thank you for your opinion. We hope to have you with us again soon.Regards,

In Alfarnate, La Venta de Alfarnate dates back to the 13th century, being considered the oldest in Andalusia. Due to numerous stories and legends that revolve around it, it is considered a true popular monument, not today the Museum of Andalusian Banditry
We looked for a restaurant on trip advisor prior to our trip and we were so pleased with had. Firstly there are few restaurants in these remote locations and secondly and most importantly the restaurant was very interesting in terms of ambience and menu offerings. We ordered a pork in honey main course which was incredibly tender and tasty along with the traditional meal of eggs, mushroom and potato which was a surprise! Thinking of an omelette it arrived as French fries, fried egg and a huge pile of fried mushrooms. It was very good but unexpected. A lovely fire place by our table added more charm while enjoying the house wine which was good. The owner was extremely attentive to our needs and provided us with English menus along with a farewell liquour. They sell olive oils, honey and homemade traditional biscuits. The building is remarkable in terms of age and history......very charming!

The food here is fantastic. They offer a wide choice of meats and do a dish of pork medallions in black currant sauce which is just stunning. The views from the balcony tables are stunning. Iâd definitely recommend this restaurant

Dine in style in a traditional Spanish Finca with exceptional sea, lake, and mountain views. Relaxing inside or outside on our terrace you can enjoy Mediterranean food at its best.
My first time back for over two years but the restaurant was as good as ever. Located on a spur overlooking Lake Vinuela, the gardens surrounding the restaurant are a mass of colour with hundreds of butterflies (and wasps). From the terrace the views are spectacular. The food is not bad either. The main change since a few years ago is the offer of a wide range of tapas and a small a la carte selection. We chose five dishes from the tapas section and they were all very good: deep fried aubergines with cane honey, deep fried squid with garlic sauce, fried fish (really good) and chips with tartare sauce, patatas bravas and grilled prawns with garlic sauce, which we shared. Finally, we each had a dish from the tapas section which could not be shared; a ramikin filled with patatas bravas and chorizo, topped with a fried egg, really good (and very filling)For pudding I enjoyed the fig pudding served with orange sauce. We retreated indoors when the wasps came hunting and came outside again for coffee. This is a thoroughly enjoyable venue for lunch with great views and food; the reward for the drive into the hills by Periana and the unmadeup road to the restaurant!

Very good restaurant with good service and menu. For some reason the English all seam go to the nearby mirador restaurant. Why? This restaurant is popular with the locals which for me is a very good sign. I can recommend this venue. We had an excellent lunch. Fish was very good

Verdugo's has been a longstanding favourite of ours and of our friends for years - cheap, huge portions of typical Spanish food, simply and excellently cooked, very popular with locals and expatriates alike, and with Antonio at the centre of it all - friendly, highly efficient, welcoming. The great news is that that's all still true (& indeed we had a selection of dishes for an evening meal with a friend this time that weren't even on the menu: we just asked Antonio what he'd recommend). The bad news is that the place is up for rent - and it's not yet clear how quickly it'll change hands, and indeed whether a new owner or tenant would keep it going as a restaurant. There are 2 new restaurants or bars in the main street now so there's still plenty of choice, and another of the restaurants further up the road on the opposite side has been refurbished too, but Periana won't feel the same without Verdugo's at the centre of it. Go there quick, while you still can.

Visited on tuesday evening beginning august. Had a rumpsteak which was very large but a bit fatty and chips like burger king. Ate inside which was nice and cool or there is a good size outside area with a lovely lakeview. English is understood with quite a few english customers at the time. 70 euros for 3 mains, 2 small beers, 2 glasses of wine and a desert. Not the fantastic place that some rave about but perfectly adequate for a family evening meal.

Cocina creativa y mediterránea en un ambiente informal y relajado.
Well worth visiting when passing by the town, this restaurant is in the middle of town and usually well frequented. We ignored the tapas menu in favour of the main courses, which were cooked to order and all very appetising. They have some nice wines on their list and service was good

During our stay in Riogordo, we ate-in here twice and ordered take-away a 3rd time but this was largely due to the minimal alternate dining options available â perhaps due in part to the time of year. The pizza here is quite good â the pepperoni particularly.

So pleased a friend suggested we try this place out!! Hidden away in a sleepy spanish pueblo. Lovely bar & restaurant immaculately clean. We received a warm welcome from Francisco who speaks good English too. We perused the menu and Francisco recommended dishes to try for starters to share between us, we had mushrooms with king prawns, stuffed peppers with fish & local cheese in a lobster sauce along with spinach & cheese wrapped in filo pastry. All starters were great! Main courses we ordered Seafood risotto ( this was packed with flavour truly amazing). Steak in a Madeira sauce succulent and delicious, Salmon & king prawn in a Lobster bisque wonderful, Ravioli pasta stuffed with salmon in a sauce divine! We had desserts of Panacotta with carrot cake ice cream, chocolate cake & cheesecake finished with coffee. I have to say I was more than impressed with the quality of food served to us today, fresh packed full of flavour, cooked perfectly and presentation excellent! Top marks must go to the chef! The service was brilliant professional & informative of all courses. Thank you so much for a fabulous lunch serving amazing food and making us feel so welcome. We surely will be back and tell all our friends of the hidden gem we have found.
