This is not a "beach restaurant", as some reviewers here insinuate. Yes, it is a restaurant at the beach just beyond the charming little hamlet of Vega, but that is like saying the Empire State building is a building in Manhattan. This is no shashay-up-in-your-flip flops chiringuito. This place offers first class fresh seafood cooked over hot coals simmered all day to impart the perfect alchemy of flame and heat, bringing you the freshest and finest grilled fish Spain has to offer. This is not haut cuisine: traditional Spanish cooking will not overwhelm you with ambitious sauces or fusion spicing. What is on offer is the pure essence of the sea, fresh bounty lightly salted with a touch of olive oil, grilled to perfection and accompanied with a delicate garnish of fresh tomato and red onion. The rodaballo or lenguado or rape will melt in your mouth.

We ate dinner here on our first night in Ribadesella. It is right on the marina walk-easy to find. The crowd was lively as the World Cup game of Spain -v- Portugal played at the bar. We sat in the main dinning room (quieter). We were offered a small (free) creme of fish soup and plenty of fresh bread. We ordered :fabada (Typical large, white bean soup), medallions of lamb wrapped in iberico ham and cream sauce and local cider.I would've given 5 stars based on the food and location alone. Although the secondary wait staff was good and quick, our main waiter was not very friendly or easy to reach.

The tapas portions were very generous and good value. The waiter was polite and helpful guiding our choices. We ended up sharing a sizzling prawns tapa (âgambas al ajilloâ) and a steak washed down with local Asturian scrumpy cider (âsidra â). Excellent restaurant, would recommend it to the hungry.

Couldn't fault anything about our visit here. The restaurant/bar is fairly traditional but spotlessly clean and we had a friendly welcome. We chose the Cachopo and was advised that one would easily serve two people which it did and would realistically have served more. It was very tasty, freshly prepared and served with fries, we ordered a mixed salad as accompaniment. For drinks we ordered a house white wine but it was somewhat disappointing, although in fairness only 5⬠a bottle. When we said it was not very good they readily exchanged it for a much better quality bottle, still only 10â¬. Service throughout was good, the waiter (owner?) was very helpful especially as our Spanish is limited.

Tuesday 28 May, Dinner. We are the only 2 diners. Starter of clams (almejas) - Euro 28. Main of 'kingfish' (Rey) - Euro 72.As with the Emperors New Clothes, a reality check is needed here. This is crude un-adorned cooking being sold at grossly inflated prices. One example of a far better bet is Sibariz where you get refined cuisine at less cost.

We visited after a recommendation. We had their house special Cachopo which was both enormous and delicious. Do not be tempted to order any other menu items (though they are tempting), the 2 of us could not finish it. We also enjoyed Asturias cider, poured traditionally. Our waiter didn't speak English but we managed. We left a generous tip, highly recommend!

En temporada baja nos vamos a descansar para que la nueva temporada nos encontréis con nuestra sonrisa. ¡¡¡Nos vemos en el 2019!!!
Galician-born owner emigrated to London several decades ago and now runs his place with pride and lots of people-skills.His son runs the kitchen and doughter-in-law the tables. If you happen to be in the area you should not miss this place where you will feel welcomed at once.Menu includes the house-wine but you may prefer the winelist.

Trip Advisor wins again. Wouldnât even have found this restaurant if we hadnât searched Trip Advisor and settled on this one. Our waitress had good english and helped us with the menu. We had two entrees, fried cheese and apple guacamole tortillas. For main we shared cordon bleu styled beef schnitzel. It was too much food for us. Great service and excellent food, also great value for money. Happily go here again.

We decided on the tasting menu, with wine flight. The sommelier knew his trade and matched some very interesting wines with each course, the waiter also explained each course as we went along. There is purpose and passion here and it reflects in all that they aspire to. Compared to other starred places we have been to, this one is reasonably priced and worthy of its rating.
