There are two vergina's in Platanes, Rhethymnon but this one (beach side and bigger) is the one to choose. Excellent food. Very friendly atmosphere, Good en very humerous service. Unluckily some people mistake this Vergina for the other (smaller) one on the other side of the street which is less (we ate there too). Cannot but very recommend this one !

Visited earlier this week after wondering past and admiring the setting. Itâs a lovely setting and the staff are very friendly and welcoming but unfortunately the food was awful. My wife and I ordered the set menu special for 2 which included garlic bread, a Greek salad, 2 portions of salmon pasta and ice cream. All of these were terrible. The garlic bread was 2 slices of baguette with some melted cheese and some tomato, no hint of garlic and not very nice. The salmon pasta was almost inedible, so much cream that it was sickly. We both left at least half of ours. Then the ice cream, we were presented with a tiny scoop of pistachio (did not have an option to choose) and again this wasnât very nice. Sadly not a single course that was decent. My son had a margherita pizza which he said was nice but you canât really mess up a pizza. My middle daughter has the carbonara pasta and again it was so creamy that she had to leave most. My oldest daughter had the kids fish fingers which were okay. All in all, a very disappointing evening, particularly considering the lovely surroundings

Well done George and your team, enjoyed one of the best meals at Sky Park tonight !!Fried chicken with vegetables is a poor description of fresh chicken cooked in white wine, peppers, sweet carrot and delicious cream sauce.Restaurant quality food Look forward to enjoying the same quality when the Sky Park garden opens.Keep up your great workJill & Marco

We are a family tavern since 1985. We offer traditional Greek food in a very friendly and family atmosphere.
We visited here twice during our stay in the local area. The hospitality was the best we experienced in our two week stay and the food was also excellent. Lots of free delicious bread and dips before the meal and the customary raki in the house to end the evening. Relaxed atmosphere and not at all pushy as some places can be. Definitely worth a visit

We offer greek traditional and homemade food, cooked always every day and fresh. We offer fresh fish every day as well!!
I ordinarily like tavernas a lot and believe in being fair in evaluating them. Unfortunately, we found the TripAdvisor reviews which claim this is the #4 taverna in Platanes to be flawed. We ate here today. T gentleman who took our order (possibly the owner) was very pleasant and friendly. We ordered the Giant Beans, Eggplant in the Oven for appetizers and the lamb chops and Bolognese for mains. On arrival, everything looked just fine. The beans were cold and not good, no flavor. The eggplant was not fully cooked and had absolutely no flavor and the skin was hard for some reason, which made me gag. The Bolognese, while it looked very nice, had absolutely no flavor either, even after I put salt, pepper and grated cheese on it (a lot of each). My companion forced himself to eat the lamb chops which were quite rubbery and not seasoned (the chops were inconsistently cooked, too, leading us to believe some of the chops may have been leftover from a previous day). On a positive note, the fried potatoes were quite good. They were even hot!I have to say that this was the worst meal we have had in Crete in our three-week stay. How TripAdvisor could possibly claim that this restaurant is the #4 best restaurant, to my palate, defies credulity. I can understand one less than optimal dish, but each and everything we ordered was not good in any way. How they survive in a town with so many really good tavernas is completely beyond me. The people were quite pleasant and the ambiance was nice (except for the American rock & roll music, which seemed kind of odd considering it is a Greek taverna). We really couldn't wait to get our bill and depart. I feel terrible even writing this review, but the food had no redeeming qualities except the fried potatoes and those alone, sadly, were insufficient to redeem the remainder of the meal.i would like to reply to you because i respect all the people who have written so many good reviews about us....iam sorry that you were dissapointed so much with everything even the music......thank you very much indeed!!

We visited at the end of August, and although pleasant enough, not the usual Greek welcome. Food was good, but lacked atmosphere.

Restaurant with a high standard of quality food. Our experienced chef takes great care in preparing the food with only the freshest, local ingredients against a fare price.
We came last year and found this outstanding restaurant. We returned tonight for a special birthday meal and didnât think last yearâs visit could be topped but how wrong we were. The food was beyond incredible, the staff and service so attentive, passionate and knowledgeable and simply couldnât be more willing to please. Literally the very best meal I have ever eaten. Will definitely be returning for sure!

Visited here for dinner. The restaurant is lovely with a slightly eccentric but very friendly owner who prepares the most amazing Cretan food. I ordered meatballs followed by mousaka and a complimentary chocolate and cream dessert with Raki. My wife chose aubergine pattyâs with stuffed pepper and tomato as main with the same dessert. We had half litre of rose and a large beer and bill came to â¬33 !!! The food and service were amazing and the place is a must visit if your staying anywhere near Plantains, Réthimnon.

This is a pretty restaurant where you are eating out in the garden courtyard. We visited one evening and both opted for the vegetarian/vegan menu which included wine. The flavours were delicious, the vegetarian moussaka was as good as any meat one and the value for money extraordinary. Relaxed atmosphere and great staff. We returned a few nights later and enjoyed the Cretan menu, again a great experience.
