I've stayed in Italy for about 30 days over two summers, and of course the food was good just about everywhere. The BEST food I discovered was at this little albergo in a quiet and quaint little part of Tuscany. Magda, Daniele, and their chef daughter Andrea will make the most amazing food for you. Choose the half-pension, where breakfast and dinner are included in the price of your room. The food they serve you for dinner . . . I still dream about it! Their arabiata sauce was incredible. Pizzas are excellent too, and huge! The hiking around the albergo is amazing . . . at the foot of the mountain where Italy's favorite son, Francis of Assisi, vacationed/retreated himself. The monastery on top of the mountain can be quite busy, and if you're looking for a lot of people, go there. If you're seeking quiet, the albergo is quiet, with an occasional bicyclist riding nearby and up the mountain to entertain you as you sit and relax in the quiet. The woods around the base of the mountain -- wow! The state park is massive. It's a must visit if you're in Tuscany!

Since 1983 the âAl Coccioâ restaurant was located in Sansepolcro and from 1988 in Via Aggiunti in the ex sacristy of the Camaldolesi where Luca della Robbia established its name. In 1998 Sara Emanuela Battistelli came along and with plenty of passion, stu
Every element of our experience at this place was excellent. The table was set with beautiful linen; the staff were warm and helpful; pasta had rich and interesting flavours with delicious porcini and a ricotta/walnut combination. Beef carpaccio was paired with generous shavings of black truffle. The wines by the glass were exceptional quality. Parfaits for dessert were imaginative flavours with the unforgettable almond, black sesame and coffee taking prize position. If you are in Sansepulcro this is an experience not to be missed. All at a very reasonable price too

And what a lunch it was . I cannot remember how many courses! And the wine and the dessert and the liquors! A place to revisit in Autumn whe there is a lot of funghi around. The outside seating is perfect, the service impeccable. The portions! Go try.

In the Forrest surrounded by countryside this is a great place to eat with simple & inexpensive food including pizzas and pasta dishes as well as a more extensive Menu with good local wines.

Using beef from their own valchianina cattle and other locally sourced produce this is a special meal. Extra care is taken on both preparation and presentation making it stand out from the many other good but slightly samey restaurants in the Caprese/Anghiari area. The zucchini flowers stuffed with ricotta and goats cheese smothered in sliced truffles were superb and then the star of the show - a perfectly cooked and season fillet steak.A good selection of wines and a very friendly welcome and service makes for a very enjoyable evening.

New management has seen a change in the menu introducing different and interesting choices. Lots of the old regional favourites are still there but the inclusion on lamb, deer, steak tartare etc add interest. All nicely presented. Friendly welcome as always and definitely a place for regular visits.

Away from the crowds, Stunning 16th century farmhouse, eclectic deco' and art collection, registered organic farm, 5 luxurious rooms and 40 seats restaurant, km0, using only seasonal fresh products, immersed in 500 hectars of woodland, National nature res
We have been 3 times and each time the food has been outstanding. Chef sources local produce and majors on Tuscan cooking with Spanish and International influence. There are some very good restaurants in the area but La Capannina has set a higher bar. Regular menu changes also keep you coming back. Don't miss the cheicken livers to start or the home-made limoncello to finish.

My italian friends invited me for Sunday lunch at this restaurant. The food is fabulous. Everything is served to the table, and I lost count of how many different dishes there were. Three of them with truffles, their speciality. The restaurant was full of families celebrating birthdays, primo communione, and so on. It is recommended to book in advance. It' slow located in the country Tayside and we'll worthwhile the drive. You can visit Michelangelo's birth home and Anghiari, Montevarchi and Sansepolcro. Our sole Sunday activity was the lunch.

We stayed at Locanda la Pergola on our way past Pieve Santo Stefano. We did not realise is was 5km out of the town, but a phone call bought two small cars to the rescue, our hostess and the local policeman who was dining there with colleagues! Drinks outside under the flowering wisteria on the Pergola was memorable. Our evening meal was excellent- pasta filled with spinich and ricotta; excellent scollopine al lemone, and very good coffee. Breakfast was the usual simple meal, but the croissants were excellent as was the coffee. The rooms above the Locanda are very old fashioned, but the old building has character and the family who run the place were very hospitable indeed.
