I rather get the impression that if you're a Palagianellian, then this is the in place to be seen in.Very smart and modern restaurant which looks both clean and orderly, with tables laid attractively whilst being well spaced to avoid crowding. There's an added bonus of a large, and equally appealing, terrace at the front of the restaurant. Everything looks great, and would grace the culinary portfolio of any town.We visited early on a Saturday evening, and things hadn't really got going although there were plenty of staff on standby. Possibly some were brought in for the weekend rush, we thought, as our friendly young waiter carefully poured a carafe of wine over our tablecloth. His next job was to gesticulate at the waitress fast approaching the table with our starters in order to get her to u-turn back to the kitchen for the mortadella which should have been atop our plates of bruschetta, cheese and tomato. Not long after, the main course arrived; sliced pieces of roast pork wrapped round bacon fat resting on a bed of bed of spinach and accompanied by some very al dente (i.e. cold and barely cooked) grilled vegetables. Interesting, naturally salty and not something I'd ever choose again.Having finished, we then experienced a total power cut for 30 minutes. Many readers can probably form a mental picture of a roomful of italians in a power cut - you'd be right! Eventually candles came out and the staff generally wandered round whilst we had a tableful of fast-congealing plates to look at. Eventually, I got our previously forgetful and somewhat dreamy waitress to deal with it.Happily, our dessert of caramel cheesecake was sublime. The Strega has a large pizza menu and does takeaways too. So during the evening, in this lovely restaurant, there was a queue of customers, many of whom looked like they had been digging the garden or mending their car, happily snaking around the room waiting patiently for their pizza order to arrive. So it was an interesting evening. However, it is a truly pleasant place so we went back a few days later. Unlike previously, we went outside on the terrace and got a table with a good view of the whole restaurant inside and out. Our waiter was a little taciturn but very professional and poured our bottle of wine, from a comprehensive wine list, perfectly. Like so many of the locals, we thought we'd try a pizza from the Strega's enormous and creative menu - again, all fine with dough not too thin and plenty of meaty topping. Couldn't resist another go at the caramel cheesecake whilst Mrs EPR tried the tiramisu. Both excellent.Locals love this place, and it's easy to see why. It's certainly got character.

Stumbled upon this place by chance, and was really impressed - the pasta dishes were the best we had in Puglia, and the service was great too. Would highly recommend, and if I find myself in Massafra again then I would struggle not to return here as there were many other dishes on the menu that I really liked the look of. Huge thanks to the staff for taking such good care of us.Dear Stephen,Thank you very much for your feedback.I am delighted to hear that you enjoyed your visit at our Restaurant! We look forward to welcoming you back soon and we hope that You will be able to taste other Chef specialties! Sincerely,Mariella

Found with tripadvisor while traveling for business towards Lecce. The restaurant is very close the main coastal road, but you certainly need your own transportation to get there. Once you hit the right exit, it is then well signposted.Called for reservation and arrived late at about 8.45. The first impression was slightly eerie. Parking empty and once inside, I realized I was the only customer. I felt I was at Disneyland with these huge displays of pirate memorabilia. At my table and I was given lots of food options but no written menu. I ordered the home starters (antipasto della casa) and as a main course fresh local sea bass with garden herbs. The starters were amazing. I had about 8 small dishes with fish, vegetables, olives, salami and cheese. All of them very good to excellent. Sea bass was grilled to perfection with local garden herbs, very good smell and light aromatic flavor. My food was washed down with half a liter of good local white wine. The final good surprise was the bill: extremely fair with an excellent price / quality ratio. Honestly, after years of international travel, I do not like to order food without a priced menu so I did not know what to expect. I paid around 30 euros and I was offered a glass of rum. A nice final touch for a pleasant evening. Service was quick, smart and with no fuss.My personal suggestion is to ask for a printed menu. If not available, do not be afraid to ask the cost of what you are ordering. Apart from this small minor glitch, everything else was great.

Smart and tidy restaurant with a good reputation. Easy to park nearby; in fact we were early enough to get right outside the front door. English not really spoken here although our host was very patient and most solicitous. We shared a selection of cheeses to start, which he prepared himself from a range on on display below the bar. A good spectrum from hard to soft to creamy, but not too intrusive to spoil anything later.Plenty of meat courses for mains, so we went for the beef fillet. Our host was most anxious that Mrs EPR should have hers cooked exactly right, hence a rather odd, yet dignified, debate about blood! However, needn't have worried. Cue two perfectly cooked and chunky slabs of fillet steak in a deliciously tasty balsamic sauce with a heap of crispy hand-cooked chips on the side. Perfect. We thought that was good, but it was almost eclipsed by an exquisite dessert; a creamy semi -freddo with amaretto. Beautifully presented and amply sized. As the meat seemed to be priced by weight (I think) I was rather curious about how the bill would pan out. In fact, it was far more reasonable than I had expected so a good evening was had by all!Highly recommended.

Via trip advisor found this restaurant and we were pleasantly surprised by the very good fish. But our companions had both a steak which was also really good. The English speaking lady was very helpful to translate the fully Italian menu. Greetings from Holland!!!
