Istanbul, a Turkish restaurant established in 1993, has street level dining and a picturesque patio where one can enjoy a fresh breeze. Located on Rotuaari Street in the centre of Oulu, Istanbul provides a Turkish dining experience. GENUINE GRILLED CUISIN
It's a bit surprising to find this stylish Turkish restaurant in Oulu. The interior is nice and cozy, the service is friendly and the food is tasty. The pricing is a bit on the expensive side for what you get. Still it's very popular, so its good to make table reservation.Thank you for taking a moment to comment on Istanbul Oriental and sharing your thoughts with us and other customers. I'm delighted that you enjoyed our food, service and interior.Thank you also very much for your feedback considering our pricing.I hope to welcome you back soon to our restaurant.Kind regards,Hannu UutinenRestaurant Manager

Restaurant is located some hundred meters from main walking district. Decoration is greek with white and blue table clothes.Menu is mainly highlighting Crecian specialties or house specialities. We Afrodite Chicken, which comes with haloumi cheese and pepper sauce. The other one was chicken souvlaki. Both portion came with option of different potatoes or additional salad. My with potato wedges didn't feel very Greek, more American. Entire portion was bit dry, they recommend to have souvlaki with pita and tzaziki. Honestly that makes portion too big for Europeans to consume. Size vs price, make good deal, you are full when you leave.Staff was nice.

Toscana is nicely situated near the railway station but unfortunately quite far away from city centre. Unfortunately, because many people miss this excellent restaurant. Their service is suberb, waiters are real experts and very polite. Owners bring very good Italian wines to the restaurant. Menu is long enough so that everybody can find a good choice for him or herself. We had a small family party and shared at first a very good antipasti plate. My wife took then a vegetarian menu and I had pasta with mussels and chili as the first meal and tuna steak as the main course. All foods were excellent. They both looked and tasted good, similarly the wine. I can very warmly recommend this restaurant to locals and visitors.

In recent five years there has arrived a number of new restaurants in Oulu. Hagia Sofia is definitely among the best of them. HG serves a nice variety of Turkish delicacies. I ate 'Mese' as a starter and Chicken on a 'Shashlik-stick' with grilled veges. All food was tasty and fresh. The chicken was vary well made - not dry at all. Veges were crispy. The starter is recommended, because the main courses is not that big.The service was friendly and helpful.

TLDR: Big dishes, ok prices (great at lunch time!), good service, ok food. This is one of my kids' favourite restaurants, so we visit the place regularly. And the place doesn't even have play area. The Food: It's Mediterranean, but maybe (despite the owner and the chefs) made a bit to "Finnish taste". Before kids we usually went to another Greek restaurant, but with kids we prefer Olimpos. We have pita bread and tsatsiki first, then Mediterranean/Olimpos plate/special and kids have kebab with fries. The dishes are huge and the food is good. It's maybe not food that you memorize years later, but it's good and they have something for everyone on a reasonable price. The service: As I've mentioned, we always visit with kids and have had great service every time. (BTW their small drink = 0,33l.) Special diets have been taken into consideration. Kids get lollipops when leaving, which is always great. The place: Well. To my taste it could be cozier, but it's ok. The restaurant situated well, you can walk there easily (even with toddlers walking by themselves) from shops/Valve/market area.Pro tip: Try their lunch! Many of the dishes are same, just a tiny bit smaller - and for cheaper.
