Cosy, elegant, but not fussy, not noisy; very friendly staff, fresh fish, tasty meat, good selection of wines! Can see here a variety of clientele: business people, families with grown up children, couples... I have eaten here at least 5 times, and can say that never left a piece on my plate. From a variety of starters to a selection of desserts - everything was tasty and had some very special details that are unconventional. To give you an example, try their appetizer "millefeuille with fois gras and berries"..... Nice? Worth trying!)

For five generations, the restaurant Al Grop in Tavagnacco has been in the hands of Del Fabbro family. The family took over the restaurant in the middle of the 19th century. Now the sisters Simona and Silvia are at the helm. Al Grop has made asparagus its
We ate there on a Sunday that was during asparagus fest in Tavagnacco. The restaurant was extremely busy. I had an asparagus risotto that was the best I've ever had. That was followed by a spectacularly good Quail with asparagus. My wife ate Guanciale which was also great. The service was perfect and the restaurant which has existed for 200 years is lovely. The desserts were also great as was the wine list. I am going back soon1

Trecentesca structure inserted in the majestic setting of the Monte Albano Castle Mediaeval Age settlement in the Friuli region. In the club you can enjoy a fantastic "Pozzo" used to collect water dated 1303. A pictorial view allows you to admire the moun
Amuse bouche based on mushrooms was promising, so were some fantastic grissini, and overall the dinner delivered on the promises. Both our first courses were spectacular. Garganelli with crostacei from Istria were extremely aromatic, the touch of mint was surprising and well- matched. The other primo of spaghetti with raw prawns served cold had even more surprising elements, saffron and liquorice, and they were applied with delicacy and finesse, very unobtrusive, just creating a background flavour atmosphere.Mains were also classy. Both a turbot and a raw tuna were great produce. The caponatina (sweet and sour vegetables) that came with the turbot and the veal cream with the tuna were assertive and apt complements.Maybe the desserts were less great in terms of flavour - a sphere felt more like a display of technique than a powerful dessert (where was the intense apricot taste we were expecting?), and a white chocolate cremeux also lacked punch. Mind you, both were good desserts, but they lacked the wow factor of the rest of the meal.Service was discreet and efficient. The environment, outside on a terrace or in a garden, was pleasant indeed in the warm season, and also the rooms inside looked very nice. Prices are high but justified by the quality. The cover charge includes, besides bread and all the nibbles and nicely appointed tables, a complimentary and good local bubbly (sparkling Ribolla): this a gesture of hospitality that is ever rarer and which I appreciated.

We went there with friends to celebrate my birthday. We felt really welcome and the service was very nice. We took a 10-dish menu and a vegetarian friend could select a different menu (although on the list it is understandably asked that the whole table has to select the same menu if it is a tasting menu - actually I think they prepared a couple of dishes more for our vegetarian friends so she did not have to wait too much as her menu had less dishes than ours) Most importantly, all dishes were truly remarkable. Very creative and original while respecting the tradition, and with very good products. We were really thrilled and loved every minute of our lunch! Of course, it is not cheap, but it's really worth it! We'll definitely be back!
Locale rustico ed alla mano con del buon prosciutto crudo ma il ramandolo sia secco che dolce con note troppo acide .

Genuine, well prepared, made with love, "di cjase" (housewife-recipes, in friulian language) are just some of the adjectives needed to fully define the cuisine of "I Comelli". The cusine is strongly linked to the territory and the seasons. The recipes of
I organized for some foreign friends a couple of days wine tour throughout Friuli Venezia Giulia. Friuli is a small region which somehow manages to produce some of the most amazing wines in Italy, white, red and do not forget the unique sweet wines too. On the other hand the limited production capacity means that many of these wonderful wines are hard to obtain outside the region, so that you have to visit the wineries yourself ! A hard but very pleasant task at the same time. On our way to Nimis - a tiny village especially know for its Ramandolo ( sweet wine ) production - I decided to make a reservation in "I Comelli" for dinner and then stay overnight in their simple but nice rooms. I must say that the choice was perfect and my guests enjoyed so much both dinner and breakfast besides the perfect sleeping. The structure is an old farmhouse wisely refurbished and equipped with all comforts and it counts seven rooms. A great stillness around which gives you a sense of peace and relax. Inside "I Comelli" you can feel like being at home with the friendly atmosphere of a real family environment. The food is simple but great in the respect of Friuli local dishes. Everything we had was particularly tasty and cooked absolutely without fat ( butter, oil or whatsoever ). "I Comelli" are also winemakers and you have to taste their production too. I loved mainly three types of wine : Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso ( red ), Cjavalgjan ( a very rare red native grape that the family brought back to life a few years ago and now they are the only ones to produce it ! ) and Ramandolo Selezione Ronc de Madalene ( white sweet wine ). There is also a production of honey obtained from the nectar of flowering plants and from the sap of the trees on the surrounding hills, but unfortunately it was over due to the limited production this year ( bad weather ! ). Finally - before leaving for the visit to the next winery - we enjoyed a great breakfast in a lovely veranda with ham, cheese, butter, jam, sweets and cappuccino. Last but not least I paid a very reasonable bill ...
