The reviews seem to be contradictory. Anyway dinner served to me was excellent. Me and my wife had swordfish plus grilled vegetables. Swordfish is not my everyday dish, but I have quite a few examples to compare with. Al Molo served the best I have ever had. I have tried even to cook swordfish myself, but do not get even close to this. Thank you!Service was very friendly. Weather was not favorable to the location, furthermore it was a weekday evening in April. We were the only customers. Nevertheless the waiter showed bright face and good spirit. Later during our stay in Camogli we saw good weather and more customers in Al Molo. Weekend guests seemed to take advantage of the outside tables. Will definitely visit the place once we get back to the nice town of Camogli.

Went on a Monday night. Was quite quiet so no problem getting a table for 2. Made to feel very welcome. Quality food and very good wine recommendation. Friendly efficient staff. Would definitely recommend if you are visiting Rapallo. Monkfish in pistachios was really good. Reasonably priced.

Italian kitchen, the best pizza of north Italy made in wood stove, ancient Genova and Liguria recipes.
They have extremely good pizzas here. Service is very friendly and swift but lack a bit in english skills. Parking is very crowded and location is little remote from city center. Restaurant looks little outdated but in this case the looks does not tell anything about the food here. I can recomend it even with taxi fare included. It really is that good.

The restaurant furniture is very traditional and cosy, the staff is absolutely kind and attentive. But we were rally surprised by the kitchen! The dishes were so delicious and fine, this was our best dinner until yet in Liguria! A big compliment to the whole staff, keep going!

Hostel owners ourselves, we decided to tie-in a little benchmarking exercise with a weekend away for our 31st wedding anniversary and booked a room at the Hostel in Fontanabuona. On arrival, I overheard the charming hostel host giving directions to some other Italians who wanted to find somewhere good for dinner so listened carefully so we could find it too.It is a picturesque location, with the roomy terrace overlooking a waterfall. We had our grown-up daughter with us and are all quite demanding as we have a restaurant ourselves. The menu is recited parrot-fashion so foreigners beware - I can imagine customers who do not speak Italian just ordering whatever word they manage to latch onto! My daughter was miffed because she likes to be enticed and take her time choosing. The spit-fire recital does rather put you under pressure to make on the spot decisions. My husband and I are more used to this system, which is wide-spread in Italy, but it just annoyed Eva-Sophie. So, no menu, no prices, which can put people off too, especially if on a budget. Realising the waiter was getting a bit impatient, I ordered for all : fish antipasto x 2 plus Russian Salad x 1. which we then shared. The fish platter was fresh, tasty and varied, simply delicious and the Russian salad was home-made and divine. We were drinking Pinot nero white - it was not DOC, just Indicazione geografica tipica, but as it came from the Pavese area we knew it'd be good, and it was. For appearance's sake we also ordered a bottle of sparkling mineral water. The first courses all sounded delicious: lasagne al pesto, taglierini al salmone, risotto ai funghi porcini. We thought it was a bit early in the season for mushroom risotto but, on reflection, the fact that the location is up in the mountains does mean that what we on the plains would eat in Sept/Oct they probably offer earlier due to the different climate/temperature. In any case we opted for one portion of lasagne al pesto to share because we all wanted to keep room for a main fish dish. No trip to Liguria is complete without a taste of pesto ( along with focaccia and farinata!) and this was sublime when it came, real melt-in-your-mouth stuff! The single portion was so generous that we all had our fill.Main course was stone-baked trout for my husband and myself and 5 huge grilled prawns for ES, with 2 portions of fries and a mixed salad. The bread basket brimmed with focaccia. We were in gastronomic Heaven. Since it was a celebratory meal we went the full hog and ordered dessert: one creme caramel, one meringue and one forest fruit sorbet. A superb end to a truly enjoyable meal.At this point we played our little game of guess the bill..... Sergio hazarded Euros 100, I said Euros 105, ES, who had won the game last time at her brother's graduation meal at the New Drop in the Forest of Bowland UK, guessed Euros 130.The actual bill came to Euros 70,50. Blow me down with a feather. We will be back. Soon.Complimenti alla trattoria Aurelio, e mille grazie.

Not the first time we come to this restaurant. The reason being that apart from providing an excellent cuisine, varied, quality, rich and truly tasteful, the ratio quality to price is optimum. The personnel are corteous, well informed on the food as well as on the quality and variety of the wines, the somelier is a true lover of wines be it Italian or from other European vineyards.I would say that it is a rarity to find such a place in a rather out of the way location, not exactly in a bustling metropolis nor in a very large borough, far from it, but the ambience inside is warm, welcoming and extremely friendly. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone, be it for a romantic dinner for two or for a large company...good also for young families.

on a saturday night you definitely need to book, even mid september, Up on a hill in the woods of Liguria, in the middel of nowhere but with a view on the mediterranean, the dishes are from the local tradition, hearty, well experimented and generous. The pasta dishes are my favorite, need to taste at least three. Serice is simple and friendly and fast. Prices are very reasonable and so are the homemade desserts.

This trattoria in the mountain village of Uscio was a happy surprise to us. Eating out on a budget is a bit of a risk when you don't know the language or exactly what you're ordering, or the prices. A small family run business, the menu came without prices, but we had been advised by Sonia at our B&B that they were reasonable. Well, the food was excellent, the seabream prepared to perfection, my pasta with mushrooms so tasty. We inadvertently ordered antipasti, a generous portion of three different hams and salami, which in addition to the one starter we did order, was a bit much food. The menu in English described this starter as a cheese pie... In fact it was two very thin slices of bread (or one, sliced open?) stuffed with a soft cheese, fried. It was truly delicious. The meal, with a carafe of wine and water, came to35E. We will go back before leave.
Paolo Della Grazia
