The Local "Whole day Dining" with a triple face: - the restaurant - the bistro - pastry with the single purpose of dedication to welcoming and pampering the guest
I was at Altulipanobianco with a group of friends, enjoying a good meal before we needed to leave for the final night concerts of the Moon and StarsThe evening was going really well, the place was very comfortable even though there were many people dining and we were making a start on a couple of very good bottles of wine recommended by our waiterAll continued really well although I gather that there was a problem with a computer system which handles food orders - seems there was a delay in relaying orders to the kitchen. Nevertheless it soon seemed to be sorted and our food arrived quite quickly and was truly excellent - exceeding our expectations. All staff were lovely, helpful and efficient, the place had a great atmosphere - we couldnât ask for anything more.We left for our concert and were offered a complimentary digestivo. So, full marks to Altupipanibianco, a great evening and very professional behaviour from all.I managed to leave a jacket behind and when I went to retrieve it, I met with the manager Alexandro and complimented him on such a delicious meal. He told me that the restaurant was having a good season and that in fact they were investing in a new computer system which should avoid any problems in the future.Full marks to everyone- we will surely return next time we are in Locarno.Dear Daniele, thank you so much for your lovely review and also for your comprehension on our behalf. when the computer system shut down, we really had 10 difficult minutes....Now we solved the problem due to a bug and everything works properly. We are still in very high season and at the present we have the pleasure to experience the vast audience of the 72nd edition of the Locarno Film Festival. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you again soon (or at least, at your next trip to Switzerland.Best regardsAlessandro CGeneral Manageraltulipanobianco

Warmly welcomed to this restaurant tucked beyond Grand Piazza. Much busier than neighbouring restaurants on the piazza, but great service. My husband had the lamb, which he said was delicious. I had the ravioli. We stayed for dessert, the chocolate mousse was amazing. The dining highlight of our Locarno trip

An elegant, beautiful fine dining restaurant. Both entrées were very good, with the ravioli with quark and leek in a mushroom sauce being the standout. The il misto di Pesce was a delicious assortment of 5 different fish and shellfish. My husband was slightly less impressed with his veal with morels and said he felt hungry afterwards which is very unusual for him. Service overall was good, but lost focus towards the end of our meal. The only minor negative was that the waiter insisted that service was not included in the bill: even though as a Swiss I know that it is mandated by Federal law (passed some 35 years ago) that service is included throughout Switzerland. A relaxing and enjoyable evening. Recommend.

The Restaurant Lachiesa is next to the ,,Santa Trinità " church in Locarno Monti. The restaurant has been renovated some years ago and has a beautiful view on the Maggiore Lake. Mediterranean dishes with some French and Asiatic details. Open days: from Tue
We live in these parts and have been wanting to try La Chiesa for some time now. This 14-point Gault-Millau restaurant is located in a beautifully restored church perched on the hillside overlooking Locarno. The Christmas menu included 4 courses (with amuse-bouche starter) - moist fish roulade with truffles, homemade al dente ravioli, juicy duck breast with a vegetable purée, and a nut roulade with homemade gelato to finish. Each dish was perfectly prepared, flavorful and pleasing to the eye. The wine list includes some interesting local choices, the service was friendly and attentive, the view spectacular. Worthy of its rating.

Friends took us here and we are forever grateful. la Rinascente is one of the top restaurants in the area so, needless to say, both food and wine were of very high standard. To add to the above, the restaurant room(s) were absolutely beautifully designed with frescoes and a chic feel to it.

We enjoyed a splendid lunch here on a Saturday - tasty amuses-bouche of local carpaccio, fork-tender osso bucco with a crunchy veggie gremolata and al dente saffron risotto, and a homemade curacao zabaione over vanilla ice cream. Thank you chef Antonio! The service was warm and friendly and all wines on offer have been tasted by the staff. We live here so we can confirm that this is one of the best eateries in town.

Tripadvisor's advice proved more than right. A typical ticinese atmosphere with outstanding food. We were pampered with excellent food in the next door five star hotel restaurant of the albergo Orselina and wanted something more local. This was the right choice: I had a tasty sepia dish of highest standard as a starter, my companion chose a pasta dish with tomato vodka sauce, also outstanding. The main course was less extraordinary, a good portion of roastbeef with an excellent tartar sauce and a typical beef stew with port sauce and a remarkable polenta. The portions were so genereous that we could not eat a dessert, unfortunately, because the home-made caramel flan looked so tempting. A good Merlot from the region accompanied this sarisfying local meal. The lady who served us spoke fluent German and English and was ever so polite. The price was moderate. Good value for money. We will defintitely be back.

Closed for holidays antil 7 july
We were advised by a friend to have supper here, so we booked a table. It is good that we did that, because it turned out that the small place was full in the evening. No wonder, the service and food are excellent! Also the atmosphere is special: It feels like being at someone's home. The menu is small, but the things we had were all superb. There is no mention of salad or wine by the glas on the menu, so just ask for it.

Well, we are just the luckiest. Easter Saturday night with no reservation anywhere, and turned away from 4-5 places before finding this gem. Fine food, great wines, excellent service! Every morsel was a delight for the senses, service was exceptional and the wines were delicious. Thoroughly enjoyed every moment of the visit and would recommend it to anyone. Pricey, but worth every penny compared to the nearest competition.

I live nearby and Al Fresco is my go-to eatery when I don't feel like cooking. Why? Good food, friendly service and an amazing view of Laggo Maggiore. The pizzas and risottos are delish (especially the red wine risotto with radicchio and mullet) but the sizzling steak on a hot stone is my dish of choice - perfectly grilled and served with home fries and seasonal veggies. This is one of the best spots to eat in the area and well worth the drive or short walk uphill from town.
