Reviews on Mediterranean food in Merano, Province of South Tyrol, Italy. Just a few miles south of the Austrian border, Merano (also called Meran) is an old spa town. About half the residents here speak German, the other half Italian. Take a dip in one of the thermal baths, or try Merano’s famous “grape cure” by imbibing - what else? - lots of grapes. The South Tyrol Museum of Tourism is located in Trauttmansdorff Castle, the former holiday pad of Austria’s Empress Elisabeth. Merano 2000, a ski resort that’s actually in the village of Hafling, is linked by cable car.

Small cozy trattoria situated on the road to the roman bridge. Owned by a couple from Agrigento their sicilian passion for food shines through. Good food tasty and well prepared from an interesting menu. A complimentary glass of Zibibbo finished the meal and we left with a smile on our faces

We went to this restaurant with my husband's elderly parents and they were delighted. There were also many young people eating there. The food was presented so well and originally and tasted fantastic. They bake fresh bread samples that they supply with the meals, and we had a salad and little entre taster as a " gift from the kitchen"! The staff were very attentive and friendly. It was not cheap, but also not outrageously expensive. Quite a homely atmosphere where you can feel pretty comfortable.

This is a place for pizzas. A very big selection of pizzas. They are very large and more than enough to share. We ordered 4 and brought home most. The salads are very good as well. The server was very cordial and attentive. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Great to sit outside with plenty of shade areas during the day.

I vacation in Merano every summer. I discovered this restaurant last year and dined very often. I arrived to Meran this year and the first evening dined here. The pizza and service was good. Four days later I invited a Local family for dinner. I tried to book a reservation and was told they do not take reservations, as we were 5 adults 2 children. We arrived it was very hot and could not get a table outside so sat inside. The service person thought we were all foreigners, I speak German with an accent. When the children wanted to customize their pizza, the service person just rolled her eyes. Later, when she realized the family were a local family the attitude changed. ( at the end of the night). There was a table behind us with a dog. The dog had an accident and the owner ran outside with the dog to prevent any further damage The puddle of urine sat on the foor inside the restaurant for at least 10min before anyone cleaned it up. It was in the flow of the kitchen and everyone walked around it. I will think 2wice about dining here again. The pizza is very good, but the service let me down.

A beautiful, old building with an amazing view over Merano and the valley. It would be the perfect place for a light lunch or a drink. Sadly it is grossly overpriced. Admittedly I have only had a tea, but at over 5 Euro, I thought that adding a pastry would have been just extravagant. Yes, it was a loose leave tea and it even had a minute biscuit, but still..........

THE FINE ART OF TRUE PLEASURE "Nourish the body well so that the soul will want to reside there" is a saying apocryphally attributed to Winston Churchill. He would have truly loved it here, as we cook nourishing and refined gourmet cuisine in the finest s
It has been a while since we were there; but, we are planning to go back soon. This magnificent gem in the Italian Alps is a five star experience! Fabulous views, spectacular food, and the ambiance of a Hapsburgâs hunting lodge! This is a rare find while climbing the Brenner pass either on your way to Austria or visiting Italy. Can not recommend any higher!Dear chamonixCalifornia, thank you so much for your comment. We have been to Merano many times, always during Autumn. We visited Lalessandra many times, food way always great and the location nice and tradional (a classical Italian Fish Restaurant, with the owner going around and giving advices about what to eat and to drink). We have been there now again some days ago, and: the food war terrible, and the owner very unfriedly. Needless to say that this was a bad surprise. Won't go there anymore for sure!

Now quite difficult to fine one place popular prices and have good qualities. This place its one of some left. Noisy, nearrow, not romantic, serving like " I don't care", but qualities of foods will make you forgot all, more after look in to the bill, you can wear sunglass, look cool and say "I will be back".

Sissi is an amazing restaurant in the heart of Bolzano. The cuisine is traditional Italian dishes with some interesting interpretation. The chef himself, Andrea Fenoglio, is in the restaurant all the time, talking to guests and giving advice, which gives it a very pleasant atmosphere. I definitely recommend it!
