Lovely bar and terrace, kind and attentive staff, VERY economical, and good food. The shady terrace is quiet little haven, a few feet from the tiny river. The bed however, was direct descendant of the medieval rack! No TV, because the Wifi was broken, so no wifi either Be aware that the at lot of these riverside places in Riofrio hype the fresh trout. That, they are not. They are frozen rainbow trout, not browns from the river.

We visited this restaurant on the way from Jerez de la Frontera to Marbella . We had to make a curve to come there but after reading a big article about local sturgeon breeding decided to use the chance. So we chose ecological caviar- a small portion for 92 or 95 euros, escorted by nice Spamish brut, cold surgeon ( esturion) as a starter, cancers( congrejos) as a hot dish and finally trout ( trucha a la plancha) - it was not cheap about 140 euros per meal but really worth while. The food was really good. The reason why the mark to the restaurant is not very high- we would prefer to enjoy more attention from the restaurant's personnel- the house was full, it was weekend and lunch time- but still we consider it possible to come to us from time to time and pour some wine from the bottle into our glasses thus not only displaying respect to guests but also giving us a chance to give them a grateful glance. One lady who opened the caviar for us was an exception- one must admit. But on the whole - the food was really good, stewards friendly , service quick.Keep in mind - they have 3 main kinds of caviar - ecological ( no special additions , nothing to preserve it) the one we were there for, then traditional if I amNot mistaken- with salt and a lot of conserving things to keepIt , and Russian style- something in between. Then the caviar is different after size, of course. After eating stroll a little bit forward across the parking place to the right and you will see the river Riofrio itself on the left and on the right pools with trouts, there were no sturgeons- we were explained that it was the time for the trout. Take pictures, try the cold water of the river with your foot or finger . Find the information about the place in the web, I have unfortunately a link only to help my Russian compatriotsPolpred.com ÐÑпаниÑ- ÑÑба- Ðогда Ñ ÑобиÑалаÑÑ Ð² Ð¿Ð¾ÐµÐ·Ð´ÐºÑ Ð² ÐÑанадÑThe place is worth while visiting no doubt!
Was introduce to this place by a friend of mine who's a local in Loja. The tapas were great and so was the beer. The Ensaladilla Rusa was worth it!. You must try it if you haven't done so in Spain. Great place to catch up with friends, we will definitely return to this place.Thank you for your visit and your assessment, we hope to see you soon!

Had lunch recently at this restaurant-located slightly above town. There were four of us and two had Trucha Plancha which was grilled to perfection with garlic and parsley. Sadly the chips were the French fries variety, lacking life and texture. The other two in our party had Trucha with tomatoes which was excellent but had the same troubled chips. Sadly my choice of rice pudding was rather stodgy and lacked flavour and taste. Despite these set backs the staff and the actual trout itself was excellent

I was travelling alone & asked a pleasant girl in a shop where I might eat. She suggested Alacena so I went along with no ideas in mind. I arrived at 9.15 pm & it was very busy & full of local people having a good time. The menu is simple but extensive & I chose the stuffed aubergines which were obviously cooked to order as they took a while to arrive & had not been standing around. Very tasty. The service was good too. If you like a genuine Spanish place to eat, this is for you.

After our daughters wedding nearby in 2013, we took close family members here for supper. Food was very good and their choice of wines was, for a small restaurant, extreemly good and the whole bill was reasonable to say the least. Whilst the menu was in Spanish, the owner spoke some English and was very helpful. We would certainly return there if we visit the area again.

Great find, very classy but friendly. Nice wood burning stove in the corner, attractive decor, clean, proper napkins too! My friend had a cod dish & the maitre d put together a vegetarian platter for me (not on the menu) which was very tasty & fresh. Good parking & just outside the centre. Recommended.Thank you for your visit and your kind opinion!

My wife and I always visit this restaurant when in the area.Riofrio is famous for the trout, but we both had the Fillet Steak. It was cooked to perfection and very tender. The owner Francisco recommended a lovely wine to go with the meal.Great food, ambience and well worth a visit.
