Having left Guarda's supposedly second best restaurant without eating we were struggling to find to find a restaurant where we could understand the menu, despite being armed with google translate. O Ferrinho was reasonably busy, had an English version of the menu and the staff were welcoming. My wife had grilled Kidd and I had an escalope of veal, both served with rice and well cooked chips. Washed down with a descent bottle of â¬6.50 red wine the bill for two was less than â¬30: we left well fed and content.

One night in town and didn't know where to go so relied on previous Trip Advisor reviews, which were reliable. Food was good, staff helpful in explaining/translating as there was no English menu available. 2 mains (Carne de Porc and Febras Grelhadas), a lovely dessert (Lambadinha), half bottle of Douro wine and s soft drink with coffees all for â¬26.40 - great value.

Great typical and traditional seafood restaurant which has quite a large menu and also serves meat, omelettes etc. It seems to be very popular with locals and when we were there, despite the fact that it was really busy, the service was still very good. The selection of wines is excellent and has a great location in the center of the city. I didn't try the food but the menu looked very good. Also very good service.Thank you so much for your words. This restaurant is about 6 miles outside Belmonte. However, it had the highest rating of any restaurant in the area. When I got there I found out why. It is in an old stone building and has a public parking area out front with plenty of free parking. The man who seemed to be the owner fell all over himself to be friendly and helpful. I ordered roast pork and the piece he bought out almost covered the plate it was so large. It came with generous servings of rice, apple sauce and creamed spinach. For desert he recommended something he said was a favorite in that village. It turned out to be a generous serving of very good flan. The whole bill came to a very reasonable 21 Euros. And to top it all off, he took my credit card. It is a bit of a drive out there, but it was sure worth it. I can't recommend this restaurant highly enough.

Dinner for the 4 of us, we just went with the recommendation of our waitress, who is the owners daughter. 3 types of grilled meat: veal, beef, and thin cut pork that tastes like matambrito de cerdo from Argentina! Delicious food. Not expensive. House wine good, we felt quite happy supporting this local establishment, they treated us very well. It's small, so make reservations.

Last day in Portugal, we found this place on TripAdvisor and we decided to try it. The owner is really really kind and the place is nice, cozy and clean. We were 4, we ordered entries, one dish at person and one sweet at person. Everything was really good and particular. Very impressed. I recommend this place a lot. It is also pretty economic too
