Reviews on Mediterranean food in East Palo Alto, California, United States. East Palo Alto (abbreviated E.P.A.) is a city in San Mateo County, California, United States. As of the 2010 census, the population of East Palo Alto was 28,155. It is situated on the San Francisco Peninsula, roughly halfway between the cities of San Francisco and San Jose. To the north and east is the San Francisco Bay, to the west is the city of Menlo Park, and to the south the city of Palo Alto. Despite being called "East" Palo Alto, this is a misnomer, as the city is precisely due north of Palo Alto. While often incorrectly assumed to be part of the city of Palo Alto, East Palo Alto has always been a separate entity since its founding as an unincorporated community. It is also in San Mateo County, while Palo Alto is in Santa Clara County. The two cities are separated only by San Francisquito Creek and, largely, the Bayshore Freeway (the vast majority of East Palo Alto is northeast of the freeway, while all of the residential part of Palo Alto is southwest of the freeway). The revitalization projects in 2000, and high income high-tech professionals moving into new developments, including employees from Google and Facebook, have begun to eliminate the cultural and economic differences between the two cities. I have enjoyed this restaurant for both business meetings and family celebrations. Always good food and a good wine selection. The service is friendly, with just the right amount of attention--responsive without being solicitous or saccharin. At a business lunch, my colleagues and I recently ordered the duck confit salad for lunch, and we all loved it. Good ingredients, moderately spiced dressing, and just right crispy duck!!! Will continue to return--and recommend it to colleagues and friends.

We tried this restaurant in part because it was right next to our hotel, and were pleasantly surprised. The salad and beef/lamb gyros were fresh and really good. The baklava was tasty and not too sweet. The only slightly odd note was serving the gyros in a tortilla, but hey, use what you've got!

Sultana has catered several functions and are always prompt and with excellent food. $13-18/pp. We ordered grilled salmon and roasted vegetables, hummus, spanakopita, falafel, greek salad, chicken shish kebob, and rice. on their website are additional options. The hummus is particularly creamy and the fish and chicken dishes have always been excellent--not dry as can happen with delivered food. As a restaurant the setting is quiet with table cloth tables and excellent service; open 5 - 9:30p for dinner, and for suitable hours for lunch; with both takeout and of course catering. Overall simply a great choice for eat-in or eat-out, with well-priced excellent menu, ample portions, nice atmosphere, and available nearby parking.

While staying in the area over the holidays this restaurant was our favorite go-to. Not far off 101 on Willow Rd. Owners quite friendly. Particularly like the Mediterranean dishes. Really enjoyed the lentil soup, fatoush salad, Greek salad, falafel, shawarma plates, hummus, gyros among other dishes. Will definitely be back next time we are in the area.

Have eaten here numerous times and have always enjoyed the consistently high quality food and service. This time the positive experience was no different although the path we took: a leisurely sharing of 5-6 starters over a bottle of excellent French Pinot was a first.
