Brand New Greek Restaurant

I was looking for a Sushi restaurant.... but apparently there isn't a single one open on a Sunday in Courtenay ...I stumbled upon Yiamas by accident and decided to give it a try, not really expecting much.So imagine my surprise when I tasted PERFECTLY cooked calamari (None of that over-breaded crusty and chewy stuff). The homemade tsatziki and a nice Greek salad only increased my amazement. Even though the server was working alone this evening, she managed the utter overload with grace and a smile. As for value, this place is not cheap (not expensive either), but I don't mind paying a bit extra for GOOD food ;-) This restaurant is a keeper !

Conveniently located, we've been to Youni's Donair twice, and it was a hit and miss experience. When comparing it to similar establishments back in eastern Canada it is very average. Since this area does not have much to compare it to, it stands out.On the first visit we tried the Donair, it was excellent, a hit. Price point average. On the second visit we tried the platters, portion size was generous, lots of rice, could have had a little more beef, taste was lackluster as it was rather dry, a miss. Price point was below average for what was received.Would we go back? Probably, since we like this type of food and the Donair's were a hit. Next time we will try something else on the menu.A few points that the owner may want to consider:1. Fix the foot pedal or replace your garbage can, no one wants to touch a dirty garbage can lid so they can dispose of their food waste;2. Interior sign lighting for the menu is missing the shade, this makes your place look run down and as if you do not care, (take pride of ownership)3. The sliding entrance/exit door makes it awkward to get out when you are carrying out your meal and drinks, a normal door would work much better. Thank you.

This quaint little deli has a simple menu featuring the best Greek food I have ever eaten. The meals are fresh, home-made, and absolutely delicious! Big Jim, the owner, is warm and friendly and fills the place with charm. There is a great selection of reasonably priced imported foods and Jim offers catering for any occasion.Warmth, charm and excellent food - I love the place!
