Such a friendly welcoming restaurant, the food was amazing . Highly recommend to vegetarians . Very tasty and wide variety of dishes . The staff were so helpful and friendly, even to the point of complementary drinks and a birthday cake presented when they found out it was a member of the groups birthday. Huge thank you for making this visit so special Highly recommend and will be returning

North Star is a Spanish Tapas restaurant with traditional fish &chips restaurant and take away. At North Star you have the opportunity to order between Spanish and Mediterranean dishes as well as fish and chips.
From the outside the North Star looks like a typical large town pub. Inside itâs another world. Crisp scarlet table cloths and white linen napkins make for a smart restaurant setting. The service is friendly and efficient while the tapas are fantastic. We ordered from the set lunch menu which meant that the four of us could have a total of twelve tapas. We ordered one each of the ten tapas on the menu with double helpings of the whitebait and meatballs. Everything was freshly cooked, was served at the same time and everything was delicious. The house wine was good and the bill remarkably reasonable for the amount and quality of the food which we had had. Some of the best tapas that Iâve had and we will definitely return.

We came to the restuarant two weeks ago on a Saturday to be told they were short staffed as the manager was opening another restaurant. By short staffed they meant they only had a waitress and a chef.We walked in and immediately realised how cramped it was - everyone sitting on top of each other. The tables were filthy and not clean at all.Ordered our wine - which they forgot until they came to take our order. Ordered water for the table which we never even got.... We did say we were in no rush and take their time.Well what was served was certainly not fine dining. I wish i had taken a photo now but it was quite honestly food just shoved on a plate. The risotto was under cooked, chips burnt, the fish was just water - it was just horrible. The antipasti starter was quite literally meat thrown on a plate with a few olives - a child would have made it look better. The chef took the starters away and never cleaned up the mess that they left.Needless to say we sent the food back and went to the Coach and Horses... we were followed in by some fellow diners who told us that there was no food left when they went to order. We were told by others that we were not the only ones to end up eating in there - which by the way was fantastic! We only live round the corner so it's a real shame. It could be a real goldmine but I personally think that they cater for the people with cocktails. Will certainly not go back i was ill for days afterwards and even had to take time off work.

Excellent service, very helpful and friendly. Felt welcomed and comfortable, even though we were the only ones there late on a week night. Food was great, meat was cooked perfectly, tasty and succulent. Rice, salads, bread and hummus and chilli sauce all great too. Large menu with lots of choice.

We are a Portuguese restaurant with an American twist. We pride ourselves with our traditional Portuguese style tapas, complimented by our own take on steak house dishes. For those a bit more adventurous as well as for those that play it safe, Algarve's G
Visited this restaurant once before and wanted to come back. Returned with friends and the welcome was fantastic. The employees in this restaurant are so attentive and the service is brilliant. A very extensive menu with lots of choice including tapas. The food is so beautiful and colourful and the flavours are delicious. It is a busy restaurant so I would recommend to book, this is probably because once you have visited this independent business you will definitely will want to come back.

The restaurant has friendly, attentive staff and great food. Following your order, you can see your meal being prepared in the open grill. Portions are generous and full of flavour. We shared some hummus to have alongside the complimentary bread and olives which was very tasty. Our main meals didn't disappoint either, we had the stuffed chicken breasts and the diced lamb with chick peas. The only negative point, sticky menus!

Took quite a while to take drinks order.Tapas was ok but over priced for portion sizes. Desserts - dont bother with the strawberry marshmallows and chocolate. They cut the strawberries up so small if I had two whole strawberries it was pushing it. I'd asked for extra marshmallows as I'm allergic to banana. If I got extra I'd be amazed. Chocolate was cold. Allegedly it was to share but glad my partner wasnt there to share as I wouldn't like his chances on getting any.We weren't asked if our desserts were satisfactory and when I commented on the tiny portion size they took just £2 off the bill.Atmosphere: there was a birthday party in that was way too loud without the staff caring about how this affected the other guests some of which left early to avoid the noise. At one point I couldnt even hear the person next to me the noise was so loud.Far better restaurants in port solent.Very unusual for us not to leave a full 10% tip but we really didnt feel that it was warranted on this occasion

Porto Grill is a modern style Portuguese restaurant, catering for all groups and families. We serve traditionally Portuguese cooked steaks, burgers, tapas and much more. Come and enjoy your night out in Portugal!
Passed this place a few times and thought it was worth a visit. Not disappointed, the food and hospitality was first class. A unique atmosphere with the music. You must go for the skewer menu. A long hanging skewer packed with meat, peppers, onions was delicious, served with chips and salad. On leaving we were given a glass of port and 20% off our next visit. Checking my diary for my next free date!!!

Our 3rd visit in 18 months. As before, a thoroughly enjoyable lunch with superb food and good service.Perfect Minestrone, garlic bread and pizzas. Huge portions, well-cooked, hot and looked great on the plate. My mushroom/onion/peppers pizza was as good as it gets.Friendly efficient service throughout.Comfy seats and spacious.Unless you want a window table, or are a large group, probably no need to book apart from peak evenings. It deserves to be full though. On road parking nearby, level access.Love it.
