My family visits Italy every summer and we make sure we eat at Trattoria del Conte every time we are near. Why? Because it is AMAZINGLY delicious food, located off the beaten path, with beautiful views, lots of locals and lovely owners. I love the quaint, outdoor area and the homemade, perfectly prepared food. You will only get what's available and fresh that day - nothing frozen and reheated at Del Conte. Don't miss the pasta with truffles or the Umbrichetti Amertriciana. The Ricotto Affogato was voted best dessert in ALL of Italy by my daughters. Honestly, it is simply worth the drive.

The Orvieto territory and the entire Umbria region boast a remarkable food and wine heritage and a centuries-old tradition of hospitality, whose basic principles are the simplicity and genuineness of the products offered. The excellent extra virgin olive
The restaurant is part of the Altarocca Wine resort, which has stunning views of the vineyards and back to the city of Orvieto. Everyday the chef hustles together a new menu that gives you a choice of 3 starters, primos, mains and a dessert for â¬35. The menu is fresh and full of flavor far from the usual staples like pizza. What we truly enjoyed though was the white wine made on site. It is a great opportunity to sample a wine from the vineyard you are surrounded by.

This is an average restaurant with good Italian food but not worth the hype. It's located in a beautiful olive trees field with a beautiful patio , so it has a great atmosphere in the summer if you reserve a table outside by the garden. But it's often overcrowded with screaming children and huge Italian families tables, so be aware. Food is ok , nothing to die for .

On a recent three week trip to Italy, to celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary, we and eight of our friends stopped for lunch at Albergo Ristorante Nuovo Castello in Torre Alfina, near Orvieto. It was FANTASTIC!Despite our large group and the later than anticipated arrival, we were warmly greeted and seated at a single long table in this delightful family owned and operated gem of a restaurant. Even though we spoke no Italian and the owner and his family staff spoke very little English, they prepared an excellent meal of the traditional country cuisine of Umbria and Northern Lazio. Every course was fresh, homemade, perfectly prepared and very delicious! The service was gracious and attentive. The location of the restaurant, in a small quaint hill town, topped by a storybook castle that is still occupied as a private residence, added to the overall delight of this restaurant and itâs top quality food. All in our group rated this meal as one of the best we had on our entire trip. We could hardly believe how reasonable the bill was for this outstanding food.I think there were three generations of the family involved in the preparation and service of our lunch. They were all extremely gracious and very passionate about their work.I would recommend Nuovo Castello in Torre Alfina as a âmust visitâ for anyone in the Orvieto and Lago di Bolsena region. And if you are traveling on the A1/E35 you will not regret making the short trip to Torre Alfina, through either Castel Giorgio or Castel Viscardo, to experience an OUTSTANDING meal at Albergo Ristorante Nuovo Castello

Genuine cuisine, meat specialties, a wide selection of desserts all or almost prepared by us. Well-stocked Bar Corner for all tastes
Ate here as a couple. Even though it was October, reservations were helpful. We enjoyed antipasto of polenta topped with various meats and cheeses, pasta with funghi and salsicci, tagliatta with cipolle, and a bottle of Moralino all for 48 euro. All delicious. Very interestingly-dressed male servers, almost an Alpine look with their little fedoras and suspenders. They are efficient and attentive. Look for the Osteria's sign in the small piazza near the west gate, you have to enter the alley to see the restaurant, although there is outdoor seating near the piazza.

Small little town I never knew existed, yet a restaurant that offers food and service you could find in a top restaurant in a big city! A very different menu but lovely experience. Stunning decor and brilliant service! Not a place for children however! But certainly a treat for a dinner out for two!Highly recommended!

Last night we celebrated the bachelorette party! We ordered antipasti misti, we tasted 3 different kind of pasta: tortelli with asparagus cream and truffle, pappardelle al cinghiale and pici alla ciccio. Then: cinghiale, agnello fritto and alla scottadito. Of course, we tried fried artichokes too, unbelievably great. To conclude, the desserts. I can suggest you only one thing: go for the croccantino. Please try all 3 versions. Are you into liquors after coffee? Please try the amato and liquor of grappa. The friendly atmosphere and the host (Ciccio) and his wife (the chef) increase the level of your experience in this place.Excellent! Absolutely recommended!

On our last night in Orvieto we enjoyed a beautiful meal at this lovely restaurant, in the heart of Orvieto. Friendly and helpful staff, a complimentary Prosecco to start, as well as canapes, after discussion with staff we decided on wild boar stew for my man and for me Irish beef and rosemary, served with baked potatoes, an a beautiful bottle of red local wine. All beautiful!Good helpful staff, lovely atmosphere, thoroughly recommend this classy restaurant in downtown Orvieto.
