The original kitchen has been preserved, with its monumental fireplace and 5 metre high stone vault, its equipped with the most modern material. A refined cuisine, with an emphasis on local products. The adjoining sitting room welcome you, opening into th
The setting of the restaurant is beautiful. The chateau itself has been incredibly restored and its not hard to imaging that the al-fresco dining in the warmer months will be really special, with the beautiful park rolling out below the terrace. Our group chose various menus which were priced on the high end for the region. That somewhat set the expectations. The chef is clearly imaginative and talented, but the food tries much too hard and fails to deliver on the basics. The assembly of tastes, geographical cuisines and textures with each dish were too complex and uncoordinated. It feels like every culinary trick in the book is being deployed to justify the price tag, but it is unnecessary. If the chef can reduce the complexity ,he will do himself and his diners a great service. My feedback is not based on subjective tastes as I have a great appreciation for a wide variety of cooking styles, both new and traditional..dear Guest, We would like to thank you very for your comment left on TripAdvisor. It was a real pleasure to welcome you in our new restaurant. We are glad to note that you enjoyed the atmosphere and the setting of the Castle. We are sorry that not all dishes have been to your liking. The prices of the menus are justified with the products used and the quality of the chef's work.We are waiting your next visit with gladly.Best Regards,

Excellent service, discrete and attentive. Lovely home made bread. The menu is interesting and unusual. I particularly enjoyed the salmon starter. Individual guest towels in the bathroom is a lovely touch. We had a very pleasant evening.

We took dinner here twice in large groups, one prebooked and one without. The latter on a Sunday when options are more limited. Have the Bathilda local white wine, fantastic and great value. Itâs a short Italian menu, changing slightly each day but the creamy pasta with sausage finished with truffle oil is regularly in offer and for good reason. Beyond that the food is less reliable but itâs great value and all served in a relaxed environment. Their tolerance, and management, of our groups was impressive. As a couple dining here I wonder if Iâd want more from the experience.

Found this restaurant by accident today (Christmas Day) and totally fell in love with their food. A restaurant where the food is from organic producers, where they minimize waste and recycle their food waste into a compost pile that they use to fertilize the garden they grow in the back of the restaurant. The atmosphere is quaint and cozy, relaxing and inviting. The hostess/waitress/owner gives all the attention needed without being pushy. My wife started with an onion soup made with local organic onions; she said it was seasoned perfectly and very tasty. I started with a melted camembert cheese served with a side of organic bib lettuce and organic yellow carrots, all so tasty and fresh. My wife and I continued with chicken tandoori served with a side of rice. The combination of flavors and textures was spot on and nothing was left on the plates. Portion size was perfect. My wife finished with a chocolate molten cake and a side of passion fruit whipped cream which she found quite excellent. I had a chestnut moist cake with a side of organic homemade apple sauce, again excellent. The owner then brought us a complimentary glass of house made Carthagène, made with local petit grain muscat. We loved this place, their concept, their food and their welcoming positive and progressive attitude and would recommend it to anyone seeking a true gourmet experience.

Visited this restaurant with family and 10 month old grandchild .Staff very welcoming and supplied high chair for infant ,have had some issues with availability at many restaurants whilst on holiday .Tapas really nice and well presented ,wine lovely and good price .enjoyed meal and although we sat outside the inside space was very nice too .The only issue we found in nearly all restaurants in France was no baby changing facilities ,come on France sort this ,just a table folded down from wall is all that is needed ,had to change baby on bathroom floor .Would definitely visit again .

My wife and I have been coming to Sommières since 2008 and since last April we spend a lot more time here. Since last June, whenever in Sommières, we spend an evening a week at ALEGRIA Bistro Bodega â we have always been made to feel very welcome. My French can best be described as being âpassableâ. The couple who run the Bodega have always been very helpful. To âMark Pâ who posted an earlier review, I would ask you revisit Alegria and I guarantee you will be welcomed and have a good evening. We enjoy the evenings with live music and the ones without. The atmosphere within the Bodega, feels right! Itâs welcoming, itâs friendly. I like food! I particularly like Tapas, Iâve visited and reviewed other Tapas eateries â this place is good. Visit it, sit back and soak up the atmosphere and have an enjoyable evening.Dear Mandy and Chris,Gracias por todo!BesosMagali y Ian

We booked in advance - just as well, it filled up quickly with French diners (probably local). The food was simply delicious. We chose from the menu du jour (starters of rabbit terrine, asparagus charlotte), and then sea bass beautifully cooked, with a selection of vegetables e.g. small stack of roast tomato/courgette slices. We felt the desserts, (panna cotta, Paris-Brest) though good, were not quite as outstanding, but we prefer savoury anyway. Having read reviews we had deliberately saved this restaurant for our last meal in Sommieres, and if we had sampled it earlier it would have been hard to resist eating there every day! The service was faultless, despite our ham-fisted French, and the atmosphere was friendly and relaxed. When we revisit this lovely little town Lou Caleou will be the first place we go!

Whilst staying at Jasses de Camargue, I was recommended to visit LaCroq au Del and was delighted I did. We all had the menu of the day which was explained to us in English as our French was not up to scratch.Fab steak and tuna for main and a choice of deserts, house wine and coffee and our bill came to â¬61.My only regret is that we left it to our last night to visit, but will definitely visit when back in France next year.
