Things to do in Pulau Perhentian Besar
The restaurants on Perhentian Besar are not at handling orders in a good manor. Dishes seem to be ready randomly and often you have 30 minutes or more between dishes. Our only visit this year was no exception, the different dishes came with long intervals and the fresh orange juice came last - five minutes after we had finished eating. But it is not the worst restaurant on the island.

We ordered chicken tandori, instead of tandori spices we've got chicken bbq. The staff was helpfull and the restaurant looks good.Upstairs you could drink cocktails but i would advise the restaurant to add the cocktail bar downstairs because we didnt like the bar upstairs, very old.

We only ate here once for dinner, which was pleasant but we did stop by for their tasty juices and smoothies a few times. The staff were friendly and the desserts were good, including chocolate and coffee mousse cake and Oreo cheesecakes!!

Service was slow. Although we were the only customers for lunch, our meal took a long time to arrive. It was cold and not tasty. And portions were small. We only ate here 1 time.

Fresh fish is BBQ'd every evening, it's done with less drama than the restaurant next door who make a real spectacle of it and as such attract more people, but don't be fooled Mama's fish is just as good. TOP TIP - look for the Banana bread at the kiosk where you pay, it's the best! all in all the food is simple here but very good and the service is much better than next door. well worth a try.

Probably the cheapest restaurant on this part of the island, offering really good value Thai and Chinese meals. Western food is a little more hit and miss. Still not cheap compared to the mainland but still possible to get a plate of filling food for under $5.

Chalets are reasonably clean, comfortable with basic amenities. Focused on diving and sea activities thus no swimming pool. Wifi weak in chalets but reasonably good in public places. Suitable for family holiday to enjoy fresh air, sunshine and sea based activities away from social media. Very helpful and friendly staff.

The banana milkshakes were amazing as were the very unusual lime shake that our children ordered tasted like a cheesecake was delicious. Rice and noodles were delicious as were the curries
