Gigi e Alessia welcome you to this restaurant very typical, informal but nice and elegant. Very local cuisine with a careful and passionate quest for raw materials. Particularly noteworthy are the selection of meats (Rabbit, Sheep, Beef, Pork and Cure Mea
Had a really brilliant meal here. It's about 5 minutes outside of the Bergamo city centre, though really worth it. Really cozy and nice ambience inside, with local specialties. I had the salad appetiser with "Pecora Gigante Bergamasca" (lamb meat) and "Casonsei" which is the local pasta. Really enjoyed this!

This is a classy restaurant. Set in the heart of the beautiful high town of Bergamo, it is a place for romantic dinners or a relaxed meeting of close friends or business colleagues. So when eight, thirsty English golf tourists crash through the door, it rather took the waiter by surprise. Not that we were loud but we were thirsty and we do enjoy a glass of wine followed by another glass of wine as we are studying a menu, which incidentally is terrific here, because this is Lombardian food and cooking very much at its zenith. So, after a while up came the first, crisp bottle of dry Lombardian white which did not stay long in the glass. Sadly it had not occurred to our waiter to recognise that our group were here to have a good time so we needed our stocks replenishing rapidly and were quite happy to pour out our own wine rather than him serve us.However that is the only criticism other than my main course, a perfectly cooked and flavoursome piece of pork that had been slow cooked over 20 hours, could have been hotter.Otherwise the food was superb, with the glorious casoncelli, a stuffed pasta filled with a sage sauce, butter and pancetta, described by one of our party as one of the most delicious starters he had ever eaten. I had a small tartare of the local beef which was sublime, and only wished a larger portion of it had been available as a main.Plates of local beef and rabbit were eaten clean as we eased into some decent cabernet sauvignon, which was now coming through from the shelves at a most pleasing rate. What for me was the highlight was the local cheese board we all had with a selection of Lombardy cheeses all matched on a plate with appropriate sauces. Our waiter, helpfully explained what they all were plus the sauces, known as marmellate or jams in Italy, but I forget now other than that they were universally delicious.Fire in a complimentary grappa with our coffee and we were eight happy chaps. Our group had been a test for the establishment but it had come through with flying colours.

This is an upscale; delightful and delicious restaurant to find typical Northern Italian cuisine. There were no tourists!!! Not many youngsters, either. Please try a little Italian; there is a waiter that can explain the lunch choices, but rude behavior wonât cut it here; this is classic ( and old school ) food and hospitality at itâs very best!

Traditional restaurant, like in the good old times.
Great food, wine, service and atmosphere! The veggies that you can see through the front window are enough to catch your eyes; then you start to taste the wonderful dishes and recall exactly why you return to Italy over and over again! The locals fill the restaurant because everything is delicious so come early to get a seat!

Called in on way to Airport.Only realised after that the restaurant was due to close. Was offered English menus which made our life a lot easier, English are so lazy when it come to languages! We was still made welcome by what I presume the owner, also spoke good English. All food was lovely, the house wine was just how I like it, not too dry, pity I didnât ask what it was.Food was lovely and sensible prices. If back in the area will defiantly call in again. Thanks very much for looking after us Dear Mrsubby, we're so happy that you enjoyed the food and the wine at our restaurant. Thank you a lot for all the nice words. Hoping for you return! Thank you very much.I'm going to send you all the details of the wine in the private chat.

We were staying in the Winter Garden Hotel near Bergamo airport following a week in and around Lake Garda and were looking for somewhere to have dinner other than the trendy hotel restaurant. This place was recommended to me by a local so I took a drive out to recce the menu and spotted my wifeâs favourite pasta dish (alla Norma). I was told there was no need to reserve a table during the week and we returned an hour later and got a table, although it was actually very busy for a Tuesday night and before long all the tables were occupied. From the outside, expectations would be low but the restaurant is somewhat hidden within a bar next to a petrol station and is incredibly popular with locals, we were the only non-Italians there. I speak Italian but they did manage to find an English menu for my wife, which helped with some of the unfamiliar menu items. The staff were welcoming and friendly. I must caution that the portions are VERY big by normal restaurant standards and would strongly recommend that you either forego a starter or just share one. My wife ordered the Formaggi alla Piastra and Miele (baked cheese with honey), which consisted of three large pieces of different baked/fried cheese with honey, walnuts, onion marmalade and apple sauce; it was very good but it could have fed four people as an after dinner cheese board. In addition I had ordered Potato Tart with Mushrooms, which turned out to be two large potato and mushroom stacks swimming in a creamy cheese âsoupâ, which was delicious but again huge! We had already been served some excellent seasoned pizza base, which is one of our favourites so by the end of the starters we were already full up! For the main I had ordered Tuna Fillet in sesame seeds, which was just okay because the crust of sesame seeds was a bit scorched, tainting the taste a bit, I had ordered a side of roasted potatoes, which were good but I regretted as it was a large portion. My wife naturally had the Paccheri alla Norma (Large type of pasta with a sauce of tomato, aubergine, basil and mozzarella), which was very good. There was a dessert trolley with around ten different, tempting desserts but we were so full that we had to pass, although I was sorely tempted by the Strawberry Tart. We ordered a quarter carafe of house red but were served a half carafe, only being charged for the quarter, which was very generous and the wine was very palatable. This restaurant was a great find and well worth the 4.7km drive from the hotel. If staying near Bergamo airport again, we would definitely return to this restaurant but would only order one starter!
