A Taste of Puerto Rico in the heart of Westchester. "The food at this spot is better than in Puerto Rico" Hot. Sophisticated. Sabroso. Sofrito is initially defined as an aromatic mix of herbs and spices, used as a base flavoring and seasoning in Latin fo
I have only been here one time and it was for lunch with my boss and coworker. My coworker wanted to try their famous cheese and guava empanadas but they were out (what a bummer) she did get the empanadas but only chicken and beef. I had the ropa bieja with rice and beans and our boss ordered a salad. The food was good and our waitress was alright. There was not a lot of people. This review could be helpful for those looking for a place for lunch.

Weâve been to the other Don Coqui locations for either dinner & dancing or just drinks & dancing. The experiences at the others locations were far better than this one. The White Plains atmosphere and service lacked the finesse the other locations did which we found surprising. Even though there was security check the crowd looked sketchy and even mores so when we decided to leave. The music was disjointed as the DJ was unable to transition from one song to another; let alone let the song play for at least a minute. Given this is a Spanish restaurant/club one would have appreciated a few minutes of a medley of Spanish music. The music/genre that evening was predominantly hip hop, trap and techno. A couple who had been sitting by us for a while left. Whom ever hired this DJ should reassess their hiring practices. Also, not sure if itâs common practice for bartenders to tack on 18% gratuity for the lack of it. I donât mind the added gratuity when dinning but for a few drinks at the bar? Iâd say thatâs obnoxious. The drinks were made extremely sweet and at one point just couldnât drink it and asked to make me another one. Overall we were highly disappointed that this particular Don Coqui location lacked what the other locations did.

My husband and I have been here a few times and love whatever we order from here.We always order tortilla chips and guacamole. If you heed nothing else in this review, please make sure you try their guacamole because it is delicious. My husband usually gets enchiladas or chimichangas, while I bounce around more. My favorite dish so far is the Carnitas sopes. Whatever we order it is usually bursting with flavor and HUGE. The portions definitely don't leave you wanting. Tastes just as good heated up the next day. Service is friendly and quick. We're not big street parking people, so I'm not a huge fan of the location. But we usually frequent this restaurant on off hours, so parking down the side street just to the left of the restaurant usually works out for us.

The cops hang out here so it's certainly safe. The burritos tend to be 75 percent white rice. The Mexican beer is cold, however, and the staff are nice. It's clean
