Perfect spot near work to get a bite for lunch. Menu offers quite a few varieties of tacos. I am a little picky, so I just went with the gringo (hamburger meat). I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of beef they used on each taco. I tried the steak on my friends taco and it was quite good. I was a little disappointed with the salsa. There were 2 jars on the table. The first one was extremely mild and I did not dare tasting the second one as just a sniff was as much as I could handle. It would be nice to have one in between the 2 extremes. Wait staff was pleasant and food came out quickly. I will return.

I love the salsa bar and the food seems to be hogher quality than most Mexican places. Staff was friendly and attentive.

I'm not sure who's padding the ratings... but there has to be better Mexican food in Greenville! Having moved recently from Texas, where Tex-Mex abounds, this place would score even lower, but I've given them a geographic break. The salsa was lackluster, the beans and rice over salted while the cheese enchilada was horrible, with queso cheese inside. The beef taco was completely flavorless. The carne assada was tough and chewy. Definitely won't revisit. Hope to find better soon!!

Tirado's Empanadas & More

Reviewed By John H

I'm originally from New York City and have been in SC for 14 years. I know Puerto Rican cooking and this is the real thing. It's not fancy, just tables and chairs, not much different from the Puerto Rican restaurants in NY. But the food! That speaks for itself.I had two beef empanadas with cabbage salad (Like our cole slaw but sliced, not ground). My wife had the Cubano sandwich. Both were fantastic, mouth watering. The Cubano had a hint of spicy, not overbearing. Just Perfect. My empanadas were full and thick with meat with just the right crust. I understand they make Arroz con Pollo occasionally as well as taking orders for Pastellas during holidays. One of the owners told me to watch their Facebook page for specials. If you never had Puerto Rican food before, this is a great place to sample it. If you are fond of this food, as I am, you will put this on your "return to" list.
