Sizzle and smoke define Asado Cucina Argentina, the South Sound's only Argentine-themed steakhouse and a staple restaurant of the trendy Sixth Avenue dining district. Heady smoke wafts from the display kitchen where chefs sear beef over a mesquite grill.
Not my first visit here, I have dined in the restaurant as well as the bar previously. The dining area is quite small and right next to the bar so noise from each area overlaps. The bar only offers 3 top tables and seating around the bar so this is not a good option for a larger party. Also the tables closest to the door are freezing in the winter months as a lot of cold air comes in when the bar door is opened. Service was ridiculously slow. It took over 15 minutes before a drink order was taken. We were there on a Sunday at 5pm so the bar was not that busy. One of the servers actually said to us "sorry, my head just isn't here" when he forgot we had asked for a water refill. We also saw our food sitting in the window for at least 5 minutes before they brought it to us and then they didn't know which food went to which table (our party had to split because of the small tables in the bar). The food itself proved rather spicy for most of the party. The chorizo in the Beecher's dip was overpowering enough to cover the taste of the onions on it, which were not listed on the menu. The prawns and turf were skimpy - 2 prawns & 6 steak bites. The beef empanadas were not good, however the seasonal chicken ones were. The burger was good and the baked cheese was good. We ate during happy hour to enjoy the discount (50% off list price) which is what made this tolerable. Had I paid regular price, had the poor service and bad food we experienced I would be very angry. As is, I am not especially motivated to return with all the other options Tacoma is now blessed with.Hello Obiboo, I apologize for the poor service, food and I understand your concerns about the ambiance in the winter time. Thank you for sending this review in, as we hold ourselves to a high standard and with out feedback like this, we might not know we had dropped the ball to the extent that we did. Would you please be able to help us with a little more information so we may ensure we don't drop the ball like this with another guest? Could you tell me what night you were in? I could then go over the situation with my wait staff. I have already talked with the chef about the food concerns. The Chorizo itself will have some spice, but certainly should not be over whelming. We addressed this in our chimichurri recipe to ensure that it is not spicy. Thank you. The onion are actually leeks, a type of onion, and are mentioned on the menu, but that does not take away from the over bearing spice that should not have been there. I apologize for the size of the Prawn and Turf, it should be a decent appetizer portion. Overall, this was a poor experience and, again, I apologize. If you would give us another chance, I would be more than happy to send you a gift card to make it up to you. Thank you again and I hope to hear back from you soon. Sincerely, Chris CasellaGM Asado

Matador Restaurants offer fresh Tex-Mex cuisine & premium tequilas in an inviting, social atmosphere â visit us in Seattle, Tacoma, Redmond, Portland, & Boise.
Recently went on a Friday night for happy hour before seeing a concert at the Tacoma Dome. Definitely get there early because they get busy real fast, especially on the weekends. Happy hour menu has good variety of food but no drink specials. I had the blood orange margarita, very tasty and made strong. Nachos, black bean queso, guacamole, street tacos and the jalapeño poppers were amazing!

The best shrimp ceviche and pork carnitas I have ever had! Fresh tortillas! Hands down best Mexican food in Tacoma and trust me there are lots of other places to go. Directly next to a Pizza Hut, it's easy to pass on by without notice, that's if you don't know any better. Great food and Margaritas for a decent price.

We go out for tacos at least once a week. Recently decided to try Taqueria El Sabor and am so glad we did. Fresh, high quality ingredients, great service, clean and well maintained. And lots of different fresh salsas and toppings to choose from! All the meats are excellent, but the chicken is outstanding! This is our new favorite place.
