Things to do in Springdale
This small, local restaurant serves up some good Mexican food. You can order at the counter, or from a waitress. The seating and parking are limited, so it is difficult to eat here at the busy lunch time. The building and interior are unpretentious. The menu was quite extensive with lots of different choices. We tried the guacamole, shrimp tacos and a chicken combination plate. Everything tasted good, and the portions were generous. We ordered at the counter, but the food was delivered to our table. It is worth the stop if you are in Springdale.

Loved this place! If you are looking for a fancy Mexican restaurant with fountains flowing in the lobby this is NOT it. This is where you go to eat authentic Mexican food made by those who know. In fact, the menu was in Spanish. Thankfully they have pictures and our waitress spoke some English. Others there did not. TV's playing were all in Spanish. Chips were round - looked like onion rings. Definitely not what we are used to seeing in a Mexican restaurant. We didn't care for them and they brought us a more traditional tortilla chip which was warm. The sauce is HOT! Beware! With the help of our waitress we ordered two entrees the like of which we have never seen before. One was a chorizo and potato mixed sandwich on a home made bun of some kid. She told us this was an original dish from Mexico City. Was absolutely delicious! The other was a type of soft shell with shredded chicken - both excellent. They weren't able to serve alcohol at the moment due to their license expiring. Not sure what that was about, but no drinks at the moment. You can buy authentic Mexican candy at the counter. This place was SO good would not hesitate to return here again!
This little restaurant sits just off the main street (Huntsville Road). If you blink when you drive by, you'll miss it. But that would be an absolute shame. This restaurant serves Salvadorian food and it is absolutely flavorful, delicious and inexpensive. People in the neighborhood must realize that this place is an absolute treasure, as cars always fill the parking lot during the dinner hour.I've been here several times by myself and with other family members and it never disappoints. My favorite item on the menu are the carne asada tacos. Warm, handmade corn tortillas are served with carne asada (chopped beef), sprinkles of cilantro, finely chopped onion and lime wedges. These can be eaten as is as they are very flavorful - or they can be eaten with the choices of green or red hot sauces located on the tables. They are quite filling, as well, as the meat is piled high on the corn tortilla. If you don't like carne asada, no worries. There are numerous other fillings to choose from, including tongue, tripe, chicken and many others.Another yummy item served here are the burritos. They are packed full of meat, rice and diced vegetables. If you like ceviche, there is a version of ceviche served here on tostadas. The ceviche consists of shrimp in a diced tomato, cilantro, onion and avocado- based mixture. The staff provide a large container of vinegar-based cabbage slaw that can be spooned on top of the tostada and eaten. On a warm day, it's a refreshing snack. (Or order a couple for a complete meal.)We've also had the fajitas and pupusas here. Everything is good!By the way, the employees that work here are mainly Spanish-speaking, but don't let that deter you. They have English menu's and there is always someone available who can communicate with the English-speaking crowd and take orders.
