Ambiance:This is an open-air restaurant, with a pavilion like enclosure, meaning that youâre not entirely exposed. As someone who generally hates sitting outdoors, I was surprisingly comfortable in this setting. The seating is spread out to a comfortable distance, so even as a big guy, I felt as if I had a lot of space here. The bar is at the front of the restaurant, and there is a large TV there. Latin music plays in the background, but at a comfortable volume, so it easy to have a conversation here. The restaurant was clean, as were the bathrooms, and I donât think this restaurant would have any trouble passing the strictest health inspection. This is a pet peeve of mine, so you can rest assured that El Carrito de Marchena is up to standards. The overall ambience is in between that of an American bar and grill and a nicer sit-down restaurant.Location:El Carrito de Marchena is located in the center of the city although not quite in El Centro (âdowntownâ). A taxi from any hotel in downtown Santiago should cost less than $4 (as of 2014). Itâs also only a 5-minute taxi ride, or a 20 minute walk, to Las Colinas Mall, the largest shopping mall in Santiago, or a 6-minute taxi ride to Estadio Cibao, the largest stadium in the Dominican Republic. This location makes it an ideal place to dine before or after taking in a baseball game (definitely worth doing as the Dominican Winter League teams often feature rosters with as many as half of their players coming from MLB, including many of the top Dominican-born stars).Menu/Food:The menu was extensive and featured a large variety of options, including seafood, Mexican, traditional Dominican/Caribbean, American bar & grill, and international cuisine, e.g., cordon bleu. I think that is definitely a place where you can take a group of people with different preferences, even finicky eaters and vegetarians, and make everyone content.Overall, the food was of good quality, with good-sized portions. This was not five-star dining, but I would place the quality of the food on the level that I would expect from an American bar & grill style restaurant in the U.S. The one warning that I have about the menu is that it was entirely in Spanish, and as far as I could discern, the staff only spoke Spanish. However, as I was obviously the sole foreigner there with a group of local Dominicans who spoke only Spanish, the staff would have been unlikely to assume that I needed an English menu or be spoken to in English. If you have no ability to read basic Spanish, I would recommend having the staff at your hotel call ahead to verify that this will not be a problem. Cost:Between three people, we had three entrees, five beers (Coronas), bottled water, and a soda, and our total came to just over 2,300 pesos, or just over $52.50 U.S. (in 2014), after adding in a 30% tip (also be generous with tips in countries where people are less fortunate). Thus, I consider this place to be a bargain, as you can easily get a good meal for under $15 per person, even with taxes and tips. And yes, they take credit cards, even American Express cards (which generally carry no foreign transaction fees).Schedule:It is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Seriously, it is! You typically would not envision restaurants of this caliber keeping such a schedule, but I certainly have no complaints.Overall:I was pretty happy with this place. I would not say that it is among my favorites, but as a regular visitor to Santiago, I can truthfully say that it is now one of my standbys, and I am sure that I will visit it again.

We came here on the last night in Dominican Republic after touring the Monument next to it. It was recommended by other friends who are here a week before. 1. Nice clean Restaurant with outdoor seating and good ambiance. However, like a lot of Caribbean Places, they like to play the music VERY / TOO LOUD over monster speakers. 2. Food is good but not too spectacular. Large portions at prices about 15-20% less than you would expect from a compatible restaurant in the US. Portions are very large. Salads, sushi (donât ask me why?), Seafood, Pasta, chicken and steaks. I personally got the Pork cutlets in a Plum Sauce = got 6 medium size cutlets. My daughter got the lasagna with meat sauce = 4x more meat than pasta - it was good and large.3. Drinks are all good and reasonable. Bottled Water is 40 DR$ and beers are $70. 4. Service is a typical Caribbean pace but friendly. Would recommend except the loud music makes it hard to talk with friends.
There is not a lot of options to eat, just a few dishes, and the drinks are not the best ever, nevertheless the place is nice to go and have a drink, but I wonder I wont visit again.

With itâs Michelin starred chef Javier Cabrera this restaurant is one the best Iâve been. Itâs food is beyond dreams. Itâs menu is a fusion of international cuisine and Dominican gastronomy. I went with a group of friends and all the dishes were espectacular. The onion soup was superb, we also tried the Blue Point Oysters, the salmon, the pesto risotto and the chicken roulade. Thereâs a great ambiance all over the restaurant with a rustic-modern decor. We a had a great time. Highly recommended.

History of tradition: In 1951 Lechonera Chito began its operations in Santiago-Navarrete, specializing in the sale of roasted pork, being Maximo Leoncio Tejada (Chito) the inspiration of the company. In 1994 Dominga Tejada together with her husband Luis R
Visited el Rancho Chito the first time mostly by the funny and clever name (in Spanish). Had to repeat the next day! It has great appetizers and portions are generous. The service staff was attentive and responsive. The food quality and taste is above average for the area. The fire wood grill is their best asset! Price is low to medium. I definitely recommend this restaurant... it is good, fast, and relatively cheap!!!We are happy to know that our name was the first reason why you visited us, is really nice to know that. We areThankful for your visit and we appreciate your honest review. Hope to see you again soon.

The sangria was quite good and the passion fruit mojito even better. Food quality is excellent. Typical for contemporary restaurants, background music is too loud and everyone must shout to have a conversation. By the time we finished our meal, we were really ready to get away from the noise.
