Went here one night for 2 tke out dinners and the fish, salad, rice, beans and vegatables could not have been better.Next time we stopped by because out front they have a sign that said Casada Grande for 3000 colonies.I thought gee, this is a great deal.I order 3 and when it was time to pay the bill the price was 4950 colonies.Ok, not a real big deal, however when I said I had enough for 3 based on the sign by the road the manager or owner gets upset abd starts running around showing me the menu, then a table top menu and then looks like she is about to start making phone calls... uh?It was the principal of the whole thing and then they tell me the sign out front is old.Well, maybe they should update it.Needless to say we came to a solution with me paying more than I wanted to but less than what they said was the real price.Unfortunately, they also lost a future customer... never again.I don't like people who attempt to take advantage of others, it is just wrong. Thus an average rating, food good but guest service the pits.

Maracatu has been providing Dominical with a one of a kind experience since 2005. We pride ourselves on having found the perfect balance of good vibes, healthy food, great nightlife, a warm ambience, varied world music and environmental responsibility. Ev
The lentil burgers at Maracatu are tasty and very large. They are plated with salad, fries and burger fixings such as lettuce and tomato. If you are hungry and in Dominical, this is a good choice. The smoothies are okay but not the best we have had in the area.Unfortunately the wait staff at Maracatu did not seem interested in customer service. We walked into the restaurant and saw a couple wait staff - - they did not greet us but eventually pointed to an open table outdoors. The burgers arrived without a word or a smile. We did get a smile when we paid our bill.. The customer service was so unlike our experience at every other restaurant in the Quepos & Dominical area, it is what we will remember about Maracatu.

While touring through the beach at Dominical, we came across this soda that had been well rated on TripAdvisor so we tried it out. We were not disappointed and each of us enjoyed our food- tried the Hearts of Palm Salad, chicken quesadilla, beans/rice and chicken dish. Food was good and beer was cold....and very inexpensive!.

We have been there 3 or 4 times. All the times the food and service was decent, nothing espectacular, but we liked mostly because of the location. The first time we were served by an adult guy, who looked and act like the owner. He acted very nice, but at the end, when we got the bill, we just received a handwritten paper with the total amount. We mentally calculated and it seemed wrong, so we went to the cashier and ask for the details. On other handwritten bill (the one that the server/owner writes himself and give to the cashier) it was written down some items that we didn't order at all. We clarified the misunderstanding (which sometimes can happen, you know), and the owner dissapeared, not apologies, but that's fine, it was 50% chance that it was a mistake. So we decided to go back a 2nd time, asking again for the bill at the end, little "mistakes" again, like changing the prices from the menu. The third and LAST time we were also charged like 4 times for the drink that only 1 person ordered. Every drink had added extra colones on the price (more than showed in the menu). The cashier (a mature lady who didn't act very nicely) quickly calculated the new total and gave us the total, but we calculated ourselves and the total was wrong again, of course over charging. This time we definetely left with the feeling of being ripped off. I hate dishonest people, and no matter if you food or service is good, if you are trying to rip your customers off, that is NOT CORRECT. Also, not giving proper invoices is illegal. I didn't mind that the food was overall, or even if the server didn't check on us. What really matter for me is the HONESTY, for locals, for tourists, just be fair and honest on your bussiness and you will have success. Otherwise, keep stealing from your customers who TRUST YOU, when you give them the total amount handwritten. Every dollar or colon you are stealing from your customers, actually you are stealing to yourself. And this is for all, for the owner (s), cashier and servers, because they were all involved on these dodgy/tricky transactions during all the 3 times we went there. Hoping you get honest, starting paying your taxes, giving receipts to your customers, so they can check that everything is correct, and RESPECT THE BUSSINESS. For people like you, the customers start to be distrustful. Ps. I can see that this restaurant also have very bad reviews from last year regarding the same issue (overcharging), and I'm not surprised.Buenas Noches! The guide who arranged the tour booked this accommodation. The view from the cabin/veranda was lovely but that and the restaurant are this location's strength. The beds were comfortable and the air conditioning worked. The sliding glass door to enter was stuck and required two pairs of hand to shut. It needed to be locked either from the inside or outside to stay shut. The wifi in the cabin was sketchy. There was a coffee maker but no mugs or coffee or condiments. The t.v. didn't work. The bathroom was sorely in need of a coat of paint. The bathroom sink drain pipe had a hole so that when draining the sink, water splashed all into the vanity cabinet. Seems like no one is interested in making repairs.Very disappointing for such an idyllic setting.

The best coffee grown and managed by a WOMEN! In a place where you usually only find instant coffee, a nice cup of coffee with breakfast or lunch or a hearty, healthy and delicious smoothie... any combo of fruit for the same price!!! Worth every penny!! L
After a morning of surfing we asked for a recommendation for a good lunch spot serving local fair. This place did not let us down! We were a group of 13, including 6 kids. They had a great menu, lots of options, and it's a family run restaurant. Nice vibe. The staff were very warm and friendly and the food was great! The place is known for their smoothies and for good reason. The mango smoothie in particular is off the hook and I highly recommend. Many of us tried the "rice with" dishes, including shrimp, squid, seafood mix. All were tasty and a hearty portions.
