We were seated by a waitress who gave us a charming smile and said, "You guys know this isn't the Central Texan, right?"Yes, the mariachi band gave that away... The service was great, the food was very good -- authentic Mexican food -- and the Mariachis only play Friday nights ... well, Sometimes Saturdays... I had the Chile Verde, and it was delicious. Tasty, lean pork, in a wonderful chile verde sauce. Piping hot corn tortillas... Fresh and delicious. They seemed home-made, and if they weren't, I'd be really surprised. The beans and rice were pretty good, also. A friend had the Chicken enchiladas -- four, for $9.50 !! And delicious! They had a pablano mole sauce, but it wasn't bitter like so many mole sauces. All in all, a very good restaurant, and a very good menu. I'll be back. A strong 4 out of 5, maybe a 4.5 ...

It was late, and these guys were open. A 'taquiera' the sign said. We walked in and the music and ambiance said, yes taqueria it is! The menu is plastered on the wall. We ordered the fajita blackened chicken combo, some table wine, paid up, got our nachos and number and settled at a two seater table. But the take-out traffic told us that this place is popular for the locals, and we are pleased! The food tastes good, it was sumptuous, overall a nice taqueria experience! I recommend this place!

Food was exceptional. Small, quiet location. Excellent choice since they had specials and total for dinner for 3 was less than $21 including beverages!

We got burritos, which come with refried pintos and rice and your choice of about 6 salsas. Choose your meat. Add ins like avocado are extra. 2 burritos set us back $8. Although the burritos are not huge, they were perfect for us midafternoon after a substantial hike in Garland Ranch Park. Unexpectedly delicious. REALLY hit the spot. Not much Mex in Carmel, and we knew we had to leave town to get the good stuff. Salinas does not disappoint!
