Have had another nice meal at pollo-mex which is a nice neighborhood Mexican restaurant that is often busy. We tend to get carryout which is always good. The bacon wrapped shrimp is delightful albeit a little expensive and the dry burrito with steak was delicious.

Chi'bal is a new mexican kitchen and tequila bar located in laurel maryland our goal is to give the customer a authentic experience while exploring new and bold ideas
As with most of us that grew up in Beltsv/Laurel, sadly, we've seen restaurants here come & go frequently. LOOKS LIKE CHI'BAL IS HERE TO STAY! :-D It's been 3 yrs and they're still here. If you haven't gone, you should. I love Mexican restaurants that have their own menu items, not just a list of nachos, tacos, burritos, & fajitas. So for that reason alone, this place is great. This time our table ordered cerviche, 2 chicken tingas tacos & the fajita combo (chicken, steak, shrimp). CERVICHE: I was always afraid of cerviche but a friend ordered it here once & it's delicious. So today, I put on my big-girl pants & ordered it on my own! Mmmmmm. (Took a photo.)CHICKEN TINGA TACO: Still not sure if the tinga is the prep or the sauce but it was good - shredded chicken w/sauce, not spicyFAJITA COMBO: I'll definitely order this again. Each protein had different seasoning which I thought was fantastic! You know how a good Italian restaurant has a DIFFERENT sauce for spaghetti, lasagna, chicken parm, etc? The chicken had an outdoor bbq char taste. The steak had a fajita flavoring/sauce & was very tender. The 3 shrimp were large, fresh & tangy. Can't wait to go back.
Loved the place before La Palapa2 or whatever it was. The shrimp fajita was not as good in fact not so good! Music blasting and a Spanish sitting on a stool with a microphone which I am assuming he was saying in Spanish to get up and dance? NOT a nice place to go for a decent Mexican style meal nor a relaxing dinner! That darn music! And so I assume that its more designed for an El Salvadorian crowd, but is NOT for me! I'll go down the road to the other La Palapala in Laurel

This is an unassuming Mexican restaurant, with Salvadoran influences in a strip mall on Route 1 in Laurel. The food is good and interesting. When we went there for lunch recently, I was delighted to find tamales?, which I donât see frequently in the DC area. I loved the pork one but the chicken one was a little bland. I also had a Salvadoran pancake appetizer that Iâll skip next time. My husband loved his flautas, crispy deep-fried corn tortillas rolled with ground beef, served with guacamole & sour cream. The chips they served before the meal were good with a green sauce. The service was friendly.

Local community favorite. Delicious perfect Peruvian chicken. Big menu. The food is very good. Fresh. Portions are fair, prices are moderate to high for counter service. Carne Asada 2 sides $20. Small side (the smallest deli tub), $4. Lots of take-out with separate call-in counter. Eat-in restaurant area is clean and spacious, but very loud from the stereo speakers. Super loud sometimes. Language barriers with some employees, but the guy who takes your order is bilingually fluent. Busy place especially at peak hours. Parking gets tight. Easy to miss the turn in off Rt 1, pay attention. Used to be the only Peruvian chicken place in the area, generally good reputation.
