The food was not only amazing and delicious, the staff went above and beyond their service by dropping us off back to our hotel after dinner as they did not want us to waste money on a taxi!! And they gave us free giveaways to remember their place. Amazing people!

Local family dining serving fantastic food for a great price right next to Aburaya Tousen. They have an english menu and we tried the vegetable udon and the roasted pork ramen - both were delicious, one of the best we had! The lady that served our table was super friendly and the enviroment was very cozy.

The restaurant is located in the main street of Shibu Onsen, where we are staying to see the snow monkeys, and we stopped for lunch. The small restaurant is cosy and homely, with an array of miniatures and other memorabilia. Our hosts were very welcoming and attentive and we enjoyed some absolutely delicious soba and udon noodles with fresh mountain vegetables plus some great karaage chicken. The prices were very reasonable and our hosts provided a plate of sliced apple to finish our meal.

Slightly slow service, which is pardonable due to their signature fresh homemade soba. The noodle house is run by an elderly couple, and you can expect homely and warm Japanese dishes â perfect for frigid winter temperatures. The owners do not speak English but thereâs a basic English menu for tourist. Rausu-san is relatively easy to locate â turn left at the main road of the entrance of Jigodukani Monkey Museum / Bus Dropoff, and youâre a few more steps away from the restaurant (after the petrol station).

My husband and I dined here 7 April on recommendation from our hosts at Shimaya. We were the only ones in the restaurant that evening and the owners made us feel so welcome and the sushi, tempura and ogedashi tofu was just incredible! So fresh. We even watched an interesting TV show with the hosts which was lovely. Would highly recommend.

Tried the chanko nabere and it was very good, though I was not keen on the tofu. At 2000 (before tax) it was fairly good value because there was plenty for two of us. The chef/owner was lovely. He gave us some japanese writing and made us take handfuls of sweets as we left. The restaurant itself had a really nice atmosphere and was very homely; probably my favourite out of the ones I have tried here in Yamanouchi.Thank you for coming to Tamaya and glad to hear that you liked food! The paper you received called banzuke-hyÅ, which is a document listing the rankings of professional sumo wrestlers published before each official tournament. We give away this at each tournaments.Hope it was good souvenir. Thank you again and please come again when you are in Nagano, Japan! Tamaya

"GOEN" has staple dishes prepared with fresh local ingredients like soba, tempura, sushi, yakitori etc...ready for you to enjoy.
We really enjoyed this restaurant. After two weeks of noodles, rice, and sashimi this was a pleasant change. They have all the typical Japanese fare plus some more western choices. We had agedashi tofu, yakitoria, the hotpot of mushrooms and shrimp, the scallops and cheese, and some drinks. Every item was served quickly and was hot and delicious. The service was friendly and fast. The prices very reasonableHighly recommended

Came here in a group of 9 and our group overall enjoyed dinner. Prices are above average. I would give 4 stars but two negative issues from our dinner mean I have to give this place only an average rating:> No separate billing - we spent 20 minutes organising our bill. Separate billing is normal in Japan, and disappointing to see they didn't want to do this given the above average food pricing. Also, our large group made up the majority of their orders that evening.> "Today's curry" expensive and poor - I received a miso & yoghurt curry with sauce and 2 bits of chicken with skin.If you order from here, I'd recommend the stir fried beef/pork. Ask to see photos of the actual dish. Do not order the curry.

Enza Cafe is situated close to the famous Snow Monkey Park, it's the perfect place to relax and enjoy delicious local food, drinks and home-made desserts while surrounded by the beautiful sights of Nagano prefecture's mountains and trees.
We stopped here for coffee, tea and a bathroom break during our visits to the snow monkey park. On the second day, they were super nice to call a taxi for us to take us to the Yudanaka station.
