The writer was 1st introduced to "Stone Garden" (aka - Sur Ting) almost 1 year ago, shortly after opening. Since then I have savoured the finest Japanese cuisine all individually prepared more than 4 different visits. Always going there in celebrating special occasions with friends and business colleagues for events such as anniverseries, birthdays, contract signing celebrations... and never once has a single dish disappointed any guest. There are several "theme and ambiance "sections within this sprawling design, including 2 special stone Japanese Zen gardens. The extremely well researched design immediately transports your gusests to a special place in time and feeling to a place ... far ...far away. If you want privacy there are many special alcove and private room choices within the premisis. If you want a larger open area they can accomidate easily. However the showcase and 5 Star location is the Sushi bar and BBQ at the back of the restraunt holding as many as 26 individual guests. This is without doubt the fineset Japanese food preparation and experience I have enjoyed in decades. There are extensive fresh offering when specific fish is in season. Multiple toro choices from around the world... including the trophy tuna of all toro features...BLUEFIN ...Within this special area are 2 specialized Japanese trained cheifs that prepare fish , vegetables, and KOBE beef dishes in front of the seated guests. Simply amazing flavour and tastes !!! The saki list is extensive ( not expensive) and has offerings for every level of rare saki enjoyment. There are rare and special fish offerings that no other facility can offer within the Xiamen fresh fish market. Bosses from other seafood facilities quietly come to this place to enjoy the experience, ambiance and to experience a true Japanese dinner. Frankly speaking, my humble description of STONE GARDEN in Xiamen, does not truly do justice to the level of service, food quality and overall customer experience offered by this facility. If you pass by Stone Garden without giving it a try...at least once... you will regret missing this experience for the rest of your life.

I lived in Xiamen in the late 90's. What a change. Although there have always been great restaurants in Xiamen, the Meridien Restaurant takes great dining to another level. For one, the hotel and grounds are world class. As for the food, we went when only a buffet was offered. So, I wasn't expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised. All the food seemed like it was prepared to order, rather than buffet food. The variety was great, with western food, traditional chinese food and even some japanese. The wine selection was also very good.

There were 10 of of from our Xiamen office and they picked this restaurant for a buffet dinner.A vast variety of Asian Japanese Chinese and European dishes were on offer. With plenty of sea food including sashimi and numerous meat and vegetable dishes.Their highlight for me was âThe Buddah jumped over the wallâ soup - which I had many times before, but never in Xiamen and I must admit I was pleasantly surprised!Self service mostly but staff assisting very friendly!Soft drinks, beer and drinkable red and white wine.
