If you are in the area and in need of a place for lunch this is it. If you arrive a bit after regular lunch time, the place is empty. Given how large the space is we figure at prime lunch time it must be packed. There is a souvenir shop in addition to the udon counter where you can also get soft ice cream.You order at the counter and are given a number. When your number is called your noodles are ready. We do not have much Japanese and the women behind the counter figured we probably wouldnât know our number. They kindly gave us number 1 - guessing, we imagine, that everyone knows how to say one. We do and we claimed our bowls of udon.The servings were generous and the soup was piping hot!A good quick meal.

The takoyaki is delicious and there are many drinks to choose from. Dai-san, the owner, is very friendly and helped us a lot. If you want good food and drinks, and a relaxing atmosphere, I recommend visiting here!

Right next to the plant where the noodles are made, this restaurant was the perfect place for lunch.We tried different noodle options in our two lunches. Everything was very good. The staff was friendly and seemed to enjoy talking with us. We ate a late lunch here both days. The first day we were the only diners, the second there was another couple. The dining area is quite small but because we were late we always were seated immediately.The restaurant is tucked in behind the shop where you can buy packages of noodles and other souvenirs. The manufacturing plant is right next door so you know everything is fresh. The rest rooms also are next door down a small alley separating the two buildings.Highly recommended!

Welcome to the Umi no Restaurant. Teshima is an island of abundance, blessed with plentiful ingredients. A wealth of seafood can be caught in the sea that spreads out before your eyes. Lots of fruits and vegetables can be picked in the mountains and field

Arrived in Teshima to stay at the White Dorm (an incredible experience on its own!). Was met at the ferry by Kiminori who manages the White Dorm for the Umi No restaurant. Kiminori turns out was also our driver and waiter for the evening! We arrived on Teshima during a rainy weekend and in low tourist season and had the place to ourselves. As a result, we received incredible attention. Upon arrival at the restaurant before sunset we had a tour of the herb gardens from which many of the ingredients were snipped. We watched the sunset from the minimalist space and then sat down for one of the best meals of our 2 week trip! All the courses were incredibly fresh and accompanied by local soft drinks (lemon soda!) or sake of Kiminori's suggestion. The kobe beef was served in a le creuset on a bed of rosemary from their garden! Would recommend this to all of our friends, loved every minute!

We travelled here by bike. After enjoying the magnificent teshima museum of arts. This kitchen looks loke a home. With a big tree. The food are also nice. Waiting 20minute until the food arrive. I appreciate architect idea about the low floor to floor outdoor dining rooftop. Even it is lower from human level

After reading that the chef can speak English we tried this place near our hotel. On the first night it was full but we arrived early (5pm!) the second and got a table. Travelling as a vegan in Japan can be hard but I carry a card saying I don't eat meat, fish including dashi/bonito, egg, dairy etc and it is a huge help (usually a no but that's better than unsure!). Anyway, here the chef understood completely and offered a few options to things he could make me. I had a bespoke meal of fried tofu in a rich sauce, somen noodles on ice (local speciality I was keen to try) and a sesame dressed salad. Great meal and brilliant service. The lady who served us didn't really speak English but we managed to communicate and everything was very easy and enjoyable.
