This restaurant serves general Japanese food, with no specific specialty (which is already a bad sign). You pay for your order at a machine by the door and hand the ticket to a waiter. The inside is clean and decorated, but doesn't have any special personality. The food is bland, and the noodles especially are mushy and overcooked.It is, however, a place you can stay and talk at for a long time, and it's well air-conditioned in the Summer.

This small family restaurant is run by an old couple who knows how to cook. For 600 yen (about $6) you can get an entire meal that is tough to finish if you don't come on an empty stomach. You choose a main dish (daily offerings change because some people come here every day!) and you will get side dishes that include: rice, miso soup, pickled vegetable, and at least 3 other sides. This is true Washoku, Japanese food, and you can't get a dish like this anywhere else in town. As a plus, the owner is studying English conversation and may be able to answer some of your questions if they aren't too busy. They recently stopped serving dinner, so this is a lunch only restaurant.

This family run establishment has grown into a new space because of its popularity. It's a cozy restaurant. Very clean and relaxing, with eating areas for individuals and families alike. The menu choices are minimal enough that you don't have to spend 20 minutes trying to figure out what you want. But I can attest that everything tastes good! And at an average of 500 yen ($5) a bowl, it's a good deal!
