My husband and I tried this place but were very disappointed. I specifically said âno shrimpâ in my soup due to an allergy. After two sips I quickly could tell it was shrimp broth. My throat started to close off! But compared to my husbandâs meal.... his dish came with a sharp piece of metal wire in it. Were they trying to kill us? Also... had to wait an hour for a meal we couldnât eat. We saw a plate of raw sushi sit on the sushi bar (someone elseâs order) in front of us for 30-40 minuets until they finally served it to the guy a few seats down from us. This place should be avoided.
I worked in Waipahu in the 60's and 70's so I patronized Sato's for many years. They had the best tasting food! Their fried noodles was my favorite. My job moved away and then I retired. After more than thirty years, I tasted this fried noodles again, and it was just as I remembered it! I love their fried noodles and will be sure to go back more often now, in my retirement years!

Ichiriki is a nabe (hot pot) restaurant where you can choose individual portions of soup base and meats from a good variety. The flavors are strong, a bit on the salty side. However, the wait staff are friendly and accommodating, especially willing to cater to the needs of families. There's also a happy hour menu with Niku Nabe, appetizers and drinks.
From special hand rolls to bento platters, nothing gets your taste buds jumping like authentic Japanese cuisine. Satiate your taste buds when you visit Kozo Sushi in Pearl City, HI. What first started as a popular fast food sushi restaurant in Japan has t
We got a last minute call for a wine and cheese sampling. My youngest daughter just returned from a week's stay in Portland, visiting various wineries. I know sushi is not the greatest accompaniment for wine, but what dah heck it goes well with sake right? Anyways, we had passed Kuru Kuru earlier and the place was packed so we decided to give Genki another try. To our surprise Genki was closed for renovation so the mrs suggests Kozo. We looked at the menus and most of the deluxe sets weren't to our taste so we decided to order separate temaki and nigiri sushi: natto (very good), ahi lover (ahi sashimi & spicy tuna were tasteless), salmon and California also tasteless, plus the salmon didn't look fresh, blt (where's the bacon? so little lettuce), tempura maki (too much mayo for my taste) and a few others. When our family gets together and order sushi there's never any leftovers, but this time my daughter snuck them in my cooler. All 6 of us agreed that Kozo will never be on our list for sushi.
Great mix of Hawaiian and Japanese dishes. All the soba, udon and spicy ahi dishes were delicious with fresh ingredients and quick and friendly service. Prices seemed a little high for it being a locals joint but the food quality quickly diminishes any cost regrets. Delicious food, cozy diner, minimal seating, quick and friendly service. Check it out.

Located in a strip mall, next door to Starbucks, near the Pearl City Walmart, Matsuzaka Tei's main offerings are sukiyaki rice bowls (beef, chicken, ...), most popular being beef, which tastes similar to Yoshinoya's, only better with more beef and of higher quality, and more variety, with curry rice, takoyaki, tempura, and udon and soba dishes. Prices are reasonable at $6-$7 for small bowls and $9-$10 for large bowls. I ordered the mabo tofu and beef bowl combo, it was delicious, similar to what you would find in Japan. The mabo tofu was freshly made with a hint of spiciness, and the sukiyaki beef was tasty with nice slices of juicy and flavorful beef. Service was friendly, fast, and efficient. Seating was clean and comfortable. Would definitely go again, when in the neighborhood.

I went to a genki sushi in Waikiki, and was interested in the reasonable prices for sushi boat plates. Once we arrived and waited to be seated, I was uneasy with the fishy smell. I was willing to humor my husband and give this place a try. I wasn't going to try anything raw, I tried tempura shrimp roll and it was cold and rice was not flavorful. I tried inari sushi and that was ok, but didn't dare eat anything else. It all looked cold and certainly sashimi was scary in a fishy smelling place. We left after the tempura shrimp roll and inari. Not going back and don't risk sushi unless it's fresh!

Friends and I stopped here for lunch. Wasn't sure what to expect since we had never eaten here. We all tried different dishes and unfortunately none of us really cared for the food. The servings were generous but the flavors were just average.

Its rare that after I eat my ramen that I will drink all the soup - but not with Ichiben's Paitan ramen; I drink it all!. Its my go-to comfort food. Noodles are cooked just right. Soup is delicious. I also enjoy their multiple options of combo sets such as kalbi, mochiko chicken, or fried rice, which comes with ramen and green salad - less than $12 for a combo set. Service is friendly and efficient. Restaurant is clean; comfortable seating. They also offer takeout. Parking is abundant but often crowded.

In the many years of living in Oahu we had never been to any one of this chain of restaurants, we were looking for a different place to dine in the Pearl City area so we thought we would give it a go. As you enter, you can clearly see this is not a fine dining restaurant but we decided to try it anyway since the menu seemed extensive, we would find something that was okay, wouldnât we?. Another thing to note especially in hawaii, if there are no Japanese people dining in a Japanese restaurant, then itâs probably not that good. Warning unheeded we proceeded. We asked to be sat in a quiet part of the restaurant and the server did their absolute best to accommodate, all the servers and the manager was very attentive, polite, friendly. The quickest service award for the bringing of beer $8.50 to the table. Small Hot Sake $7 followed. The rainbow roll was made with immigration crab $15.50 overpriced. The shrimp tempura $21.95 4 cold and somewhat tasteless shrimp, 2 slices of eggplant and a green bean all in a limp tempura batter. The accompanying miso soup was okay and the salad was fresh lettuce and 2 slices of cucumber and grated carrot again okay. The chicken Katsu / steak combination both were fatty and almost cold in temperature. In short, The restaurant was very old, tatty and really a bit dirty, the food disappointing But the service was excellent.
